This is my first real attempt to TTC and AF is due today/tomorrow (no signs as yet) and over the last week due to complete excitement of possibly being pregnant I have been POAS like mad. I have had some BFNs and also some with faint positives. After the query BFP's I have tested again with more accurate tests which then say BFN. I have typically been using these crappy little pieces of card that you dip into urine and wait ten minutes to read the results. Today, my first result showed a BFN and then another one I did later in the morning showed faint positive line. I have no faith in the tests or their results anyway as they are pretty cheap (they fall apart pretty easily after use) and so earlier I decided to throw them away and stop testing.

But anyway - along with the pregnancy strips there were also strips that act as a ovulation detector and purely out of interest as to how it works I have just dipped one into my urine and there is a definite 'positive' line for ovulation?!

How is this possible when my AF is due tomorrow??
My fertile days (based on cycle length and EWCM) were around the 8th of July, so why am I testing positive for ovulation??

Am I going mad??

Or should I just throw the crap test cards in the bin??? Grin

I don't think those crappy little pieces or card are inaccurant, if you mean the cheap tests from the internet, they are some of the most sensitive. Different results can be the result of mixing different tests of varying sensitive and/or testing at different times of the day. A positive ov predictor (meaning a line as dark or darker than the test line) when your period is due is good indictor of pregnancy although not foolproof.

I've just been to my local shop and bought a different brand of Pregnancy Tests (couldn't help myself) and I have got another faint line!!! Grin Grin

With regards my OPK result, the red test line went much darker than the red control line which the instructions say indicate a positive result.

ps) I feel really bad now for calling the pieces of card crappy Grin x

I'm sure the crappy card doesn't mind Wink

Home pregnancy tests are testing for hcG. Ovulation tests are testing for
LH. Chemically, these two hormones are extremely similar. So similar, in
fact, that hcG is mistaken by the ov test as LH. It doesn't happen the other way around though. Like twins, one of which is wearing a hat if you see what you mean? The ov test looks for the twin, the HPT only the hat.

In summary, it would seem you are pregnant Smile
