Hi all!

I just wanted to share because I don't have anyone to share it with (husband still at work), I just got my first big smiley face on my OPK :) it's our 3rd month, and not really had anything before- faint lines on strips and a big fat empty circle on clear blue. I was beginning to worry a bit. But this morning I got quite a strong line on cheapo strip, so thought I'd try again tonight and 2nd line is almost stronger than test line! So tried a posh digital one and hurrah!! Last months cycle was 35 days, so CD21 today is bang on for ovulating :)

Now just need the hubby to get home...

Hi happypinkpanther

Came across your post and wanted to say well done- how exciting! At least you have a rough idea now of when you're ovulating you'll be able to work out the length of your luteal phase.
In the past my doctor has said to test twice a day because the LH surge can be fleeting- expensive but worth it for peace of mind. Use a combination of the cheapo ones and Clearblue.
x

Thanks RaRaz :)

Once the opk has turned neg is it game over for this month?

IPKs don't actually predict ovulation, they predict the LH surge which happens just before ovulation. When the egg is released it will only live for 24 hours and the sperm need some hours to make their way up to it! They say sperm can live for up to 5 days in the right conditions, but it's more likely 3. So DTD every 3 days is (supposed to be) sufficient. 48 hours from the smiley face/line is prob your best window!x

*OPKs!

happypinkpanther · 20/07/2013 14:05

So is it worth still DTD after the OPK turned neg? We DTD 3 days before it turned +ive, plus the evening of the day it did, then it was +ive the next morning but very very negative that evening (yesterday). Wondering if its worth trying to entice the hubby again today!! We've a very busy schedule!!

Ha ha! Wouldn't do any harm I suppose, but I think you'll be fine as you are!

Thanks JT :)
