CM Question & Ovulation

Hi all
I've started taking temp (on instruction from accupuncturist) and thought I should also try to pay a bit more attention to CM but I'm a bit concerned and would appreciate any info, wisdom etc.
I do seem to have a reasonable amt of CM (though who knows what's reasonable :o )and I've seen it dry/flaky, creamy white etc but not sure I've ever encountered what seems to be described as EWCM. Does this mean I'm not ovulating at all? Is it possible to conceive without getting EWCM? Is there anything I should do to "bring it on" Wink
and what i'm afraid of is that does it mean that there's a problem with hormones that stops me getting to this stage?
Apologies, the question has turned multiple but I'd really appreciate some advice on this......
Thanks
JA

How long have you been watching it for and temping?

JA

Apparently drinking grapefruit juice and/or takinf evning primrose oil in the days leading up to your ovulation can help produce more fertile ew-like CM. I have been drinking grapefruit juice and have certainly noticed a difference.

Also, if you are producing creamy cm, this is regarded as fertile. The flaky, crumbly cm is not especially fertile. You should get hold of a copy of 'Taking Control of your Fertility' by Toni Weschler - this will tell you all you need to know. I'm reading it just now and it's so interesting.

Have a look at \link{http://fertilityuk.org\this website} as well for lots of info.

How long have you been temping for? It takes a while before you can recognise what's going on at various times of your cycle.

another vote for that book janeausten, I knew lots about my body but cm was something I never "knew" until I read the book.
I get ewcm 3 days before I ovualte, this I have found from charting cm and temps and cervical position.
So I had been mistiming my "moments"
no ewcm can be a problem, there are some good tips in the book about increasing it and using substitutes like ermmm, real egg whites not if you are allergic obviously, also there is a sperm friendly lube you can buy called pre seed.
ASk away on the conception forum, we're all pretty familiar with all this bumpf

Thanks a million everyone, what a mine of information this site is. I have started taking EPO, is one a day enough? Does it take long to make a difference if it's going to make a difference?
Is it correct to say that even if I haven't noticed obvious EWCM I could still be ovulating?
Crikes I'm addicted to this site already, thanks again for all the help.
Noone knows we're even contemplating ttc at the moment so not really something I can discuss with anyone else....and tbh, it's easier ask these questions on an anonymous forum. God bless the internet :)

I think the EPO takes a while to build up in your system - so you might no notice any difference straight away. However, the grapefruit juice will make a difference just about immediately! Well, that's what I found anyway.. just one glass a day is enough!

I'm sure you would still be ovulating even if you don't notice the ewcm. Some women will produce loads, some not so much. And if you've only just started looking for it, it takes a while to learn what you're looking for. Just keep bd'ing around when you are due to ovulate, and maybe use a lubricant as Piffle suggests.
