Oh twinkle I really don't know what to say. Is there any hope that it is just spotting?

BrookerC · 26/07/2013 22:49

nobeer FET is fascinating to me especially as it could be me next time. While I was talking to grilling my embryologist, re-freezing embies was discussed. I had never heard of it. Apparently it can be done over and over again. Amazing.

happylass · 26/07/2013 22:50

Twinks so sorry to hear that. Hope you have lots of RL people to look after and support you. And of course we are all here too when you need us. Take care lovely x

Nokkie73 · 26/07/2013 23:13

twinks I am really sorry. An ivf bfn is cruel. My thoughts are with you and Mr Twinks. Xx

nobeer · 26/07/2013 23:33

brooker I thought I remembered you saying that you might be doing FET. It certainly is all a bit sci fi! I'll keep you updated with the processes. I'm just delighted there are no more injections, as I'd read on here or FF (can't remember now) that some people were having to do them again. I'm also pleased it's all worked out nicely timing wise, and me and DP will get to go away a week today!

kittykatsforever · 27/07/2013 03:30

Winkle, there are no words, so sorry Hmm

Fabuluce · 27/07/2013 06:41

Ladies I have a way tmi question for you regarding DH and his production in the day!

Basically it seems his nob is genetically predisposed to only do a full time almighty spooge when he's inside me rather than with a wank or a blowie (for which most if the time I'm entirely grateful!!) but obviously when it comes to IVF it's all about the wank. Does anyone else have this problem?? I know there's bound to be performance issues in the day but his seems an ongoing thing - basically my lady garden is the only thing that makes him want to fully explode - nothing else is quite good enough - it's like his willy is saying 'no - babies don't get made outside so retreat boys and save it for another day!'

Now how's that for a Saturday morning convo with your breaky??

twinklestar2 · 27/07/2013 08:51

Fab that made me laugh. I don't really know the answer but hope someone more knowledgable will come along soon :)

I'm aware that I've been dominating the thread over the last few days so sorry about that girls. I do have a question though. Why did this not work? Everything was going textbook according to the hospital. What would be the reason why the blastocyst didn't stick?

Wimwom · 27/07/2013 08:55

Twinks - so sorry hon. I hope you are looking after each other, this doesn't mean you will not get there in the end. It's just another cruel and horrible hurdle along the road. Hugs.
cup and pip excellent scan results - pip have you even started stimming yet?! Sounds like you guys are going to be in for an excellent lay!
fab we got a leaflet saying if DH had concners about producing on the day then we could use a special condom to collect it in and they would then use it from there. We didn't use this option... But you could ask if you could. Though I have to say I have not felt like DTD for several weeks - you are a braver lady than I!
Nobeer, nomaybe, beetle, tame-on-hols and everyone else, hello!
I can't scroll back on damn phone so sorry if have missed anything.
Off to try and get all weekend jobs done in a morning so can go out this evening pre transfer tomorrow - eeeek. Really interesting to know you can freeze and refreeze - who would have thought it?

Wimwom · 27/07/2013 09:02

Sorry twink we've cross posted. There are lots of reasons why your embie might not implant - my amateur knowledge from reading yesterday - it could get stuck in it's shell, it might not have survived transfer, it may have been destined never to get beyond blasto stage, and there are others that I understand even less It is not something that you have done wrong or is wrong with you - and you will probably never know why this one didn't implant. It may be that your clinic might have some suggestions? Do you go back at see them sometime? I am sure someone cleverer than me will come along and explain better and more, but my feeling is that you will probably never know. X

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 27/07/2013 09:11

Morning from the seaside.

Twinks I'm so very sorry to hear that. It's just too cruel after all you have been through. I know there is nothing that can make you feel better right now but you will get through this xxx

Tame have a lovely holiday.

Nobeer that's great news re starting FET x

Pip great news on the scan, yay to starting stimms soon

Fab errm I don't really know about that one sorry! I've never really thought about it but I guess I've always been surprised with samples/wanks that it never seems as much compared to when it's pouring out of me post doing the deed Grin

Wim not long now, how are you getting on?

BrookerC · 27/07/2013 10:06

fab I don't think any subject is out of bounds on here!
to my dismay I discovered that my DH took in a video of me he had on his phone & used that!! This is after many conversations along the lines of 'you will fucking delete that immediately won't you?' ' of course darling-I would never risk keeping it' Hmm
twinks My first ivf back in Apr/May failed despite having a 4/4/3 grade & a 4/3/3 blasto put back . Everything seemed to go perfectly throughout the treatment except the outcome. Our consultant is a very direct professional. His response was that there was more chance of failure that's success and even with everything going well, as it had for us, we could expect 3 cycles to get a positive! We discussed an endo scratch & I have since had that done When I asked what else I/we could do to increase the chance of success his answer was simple - the people who ask me that question are already doing all the right things. We don't have any male factor issues just my ageing eggs Sad
We all have different issues I know but your consultant should be able to at least eliminate any issues rather than maybe specifically identify why it hasn't worked this time. I'm sorry if that hasn't helped. I hated not knowing why as it meant I couldn't put it right
Agates advice on ff was invaluable to me & helped me with my list of questions for the review. Huge hugs xx

Lifeasafish · 27/07/2013 10:09

Flowerstwinks you are in my thoughts. I was really hoping the news would be different.

Blasts are still not 100% guarenteed to stick, nothing is. And as we know this works boths ways - IVF isnt an exact science and 1+1 doesn't always equal 2.

Hopefully your clinic will give more advice and reassurance that this result was unexpected and not expected to happen again.

Not to give false hope, but are you still taking the pregesterone just in case?how bad is the bleeding?

My thoughts are with you.

fab fucking hilarious! Has mrfab been practicing his stroke? Has he enou time to do so? Oh, and he should bring his own materials. My DH once sat reading an article in FHM on techy stuff to the point that the nurses had to ask if he was ok.

Oh, just remembered - a friends husband had the same problem, for SA. They had to have sex in the morning with a cup nearby so he could ummm.... Pull out at moment of eureka. Spunk lasts 1 hr apparently.

Lifeasafish · 27/07/2013 10:15

I second what brooker said about x3 cycles - I had put something along those lines in my original post but deleted it as it read insensitive.

Its the reason why x3 cycles are recommended. Even with good prospects the idea is it should be successful within 3 (if that makes sense).

Was this your first cycle? Maybe things like a scratch will be good. The clinic will do their utmost to get and keep success so while they may not have the answer as to why, hopefully they will try everything.

1st cycle is also treated as a kind of practice run apparently. All sorts of invaluable things are learnt - I was told this when cancellation was in the table.

BrookerC · 27/07/2013 10:17

Ah just remembered, my clinic also said that spunk could be taken in & it lasts a few hours. Can you imagine the blokes talking about this subject (maybe they should)? He he!!
