First appointment at fertility clinic

Hi, I realise this has probably been asked before but I'm struggling with the search function..
Husband and I have been TTC for 12months now, in this time I have only had one period which we are presuming is the reason nothing's happening.
We've both been for tests (me-bloods(3times), ultrasound, him-sperm sample twice), the only feedback we've had so far is nothing out of the ordinary.
We have our first actual apt. at fertility clinic on Wednesday and have no idea what to expect..can anyone help??

I don't know what's going to happen at your appt but wanted to let you know me & oh were ttc for nearly 2 years & they found no problems.I got a referral but had to cancel as out of the blue I found myself pregnant :)

They may put you on meds to regulate your periods so you can conceive natrually.

Thanks mumtolilh, it's always good to hear positive outcomes! It's just a bit scary to have the apt. now which kind of makes it all a bit real if that makes sense..

No advice I'm afraid as we are a little further behind in the process. We have been TTC for 21 months (it's scary saying that) but only just recently went to the GP. I've have day 21 bloods (results tomorrow) and DH has had one SA (result next Tuesday) so we are still working through the initial tests. We don't go onto the waiting list for an actual appointment until the second SA which is 16 August, and the waiting list is 12 weeks

I'd be interested to hear what happens at your clinic appointment if you don't mind providing an update? Fingers crossed it goes well!

My tip is to write everything down! Write a list before you go of anything you would like to ask or achieve at the appointment. And during the clinic (check the doctor doesn't mind) take some notes to remind you of what was discussed. There are studies that show how prolific 'white coat syndrome' is and also how badly patients are able retain information imparted to them during consultations.

Hi solaia, I felt pretty down when I realised we had to be referred to the fertility clinic too, it all became very real then.

Had the apt. yesterday, and everyone we met was brilliant. We met our doctor who took us through some questionnaires about my periods, our sex life and DH's testicular health. He then went through all our test results with us explaining everything really clearly. He thinks I have some sort of hormonal imbalance which is stopping me from ovulating so did an internal ultrasound to have a look.

(Apparently I have poly cystic ovaries which aren't releasing eggs properly.) he told me the plan would now be to go on chlomid.
We then got seen by a nurse who gave me the meds and explained everything through again.

They really were fantastic, made us feel at ease and that all questions were sensible, even the daft ones!

Meant to say, we were really lucky and got a cancellation apt. at the clinic, didn't expect our apt. until September so over the moon that I feel we're now 'ahead' for once!
