Does this sound like ovulation?

Obviously I will know for sure in a few weeks if I get my period but want to check the symptoms anyway.

Bit of background, I have PCOS and haven't had a period since coming off the pill over 2 yeas ago. Had a laparoscopy and ovarian drilling 3 weeks ago (everything normal except cysty ovaries). Last week I had quite a few sharp pains low down on my left side, a few days of what looked like EWCM (can only go by what I've seen and read online), a day or so of runny CM which has definitely now changed in consistency again today.

It definitely wasn't normal for me but I'm not sure what's normal anyway! Grin

Sounds like it to me, they are what I experience around ovulation.

Ewcm is a clear sign ov is on its way. If you've been reading about it and you think you got it, then my guess is you really did. It's so different from other types of cm. Did you check the stretchiness?

P.s. ovarian drilling sounds really scary

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/07/2013 15:16

Its not that scary honest Blueamber!. The fear of it was far worse than the reality. Am a parent as a direct result of said op as well.

Presumably the surgeon operated on the ovaries to pierce the cystic follicles associated with PCOS. I would not take too much notice of CM as this can be a poor predictor of ovulation but it may be that your body is trying to gear itself up to ovulate. I would wait for your menstrual cycle to come back, hopefully your cycle now will become far more regular.

Thanks for the replies, I agree that ovarian drilling really isn't as scary as it sounds! I recovered from the procedure very quickly. Yes, it feels like my body is gearing up to do something, it just felt so different from the norm that I wondered if it could be it.

If I don't have a cycle after 3 months I've to start clomid, which I suppose isn't the end of the world, I'd just rather manage to do it myself.

Just wanted to update this thread to say that my symptoms were indeed ovulation and that I got my BFP yesterday!

Stunned but elated! Grin
