Implantation bleed or miscarriage?

So I was due my period last Saturday after trying to conceive for 4 months. I am regular as clockwork, so when I didn't start my period, I took a clear blue digital test on Sunday morning which was positive (1-2weeks)

However, I woke up Monday morning to discover I was bleeding (similar to first day of period). I phoned the doc to be told in all likelihood it was a miscarriage and that as it was so early on, there was nothing they could do apart from advise to take another test in 2 weeks. This means I'm now in limbo in terms of not knowing if I'm pregnant or not! They said if I hadn't taken the test so early, I wouldn't even have known.

Now, I stopped bleeding yesterday, and from looking at google, I'm wondering if this means I've had an implantation bleed or if I'm just clutching at straws here - surely if it was my actual period it would be still going on? Usually they last 4-5 days with me, not 1-2 days as is the case here.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Implantation bleed is usually only a few small spots of blood but you won't get a positive test until implantation has taken place. It sounds like an early miscarriage to me. Sorry Sad

I bled on and off for about two weeks at the beginning of my last pregnancy. Less than a period but more than spotting. It was quite pink in colour and perhaps more watery- sorry for tmi. Only time will tell, but the very best of luck.

Unfortunately you really do have to wait a bit to get another test, but as I lie here with my 3 month old feeding in my arms, literally one year ago I had my 'period' but was lighter than normal and continued to bleed on and off until 16 weeks, normally brown but did have some major red clots until 8 weeks and was still pregnant, so it can be positive. I have also suffered a miscarriage which started with similar bleeding, so sorry to not give a reassured answer but wanted to hand hold and tell you it doesn't mean a miscarriage necessarily. If I were you I'd join the March/April 2014 thread as that was an amazing support for me with both my miscarriage and pregnancy. Good luck. PM me if you need a chat x
