AF is just winding down for me, been a short one for me this month, so just trying to decide when to start SMEP. We've not tried this before and I know its supposed to be CD8 but I think I will run out of steam at the vital time if we start dtd every other day from cd8! I'm thinking maybe cd10 as I usually ov between cd16 and 19 so surely there'll be enough sperm waiting even if we start a bit later?! Although, dh is dying to get going, he can't believe his luck that this plan exists Wonder if he'll still be saying that if were still trying it a few of months down the line!

What's everyone else planning this month? SMEP or just lots of dtd around ov?

What's SMEP? I plan to just get a serious amount of action in....

Its a way to supposedly maximise your chances. You dtd every other day from day 8 of your cycle. When you get a positive opk you dtd every day for 3 days, have a day off, then do it once more. A lot of people say don't bother with it early on and just have lots of sex, and I'm only on cycle 3, but just gonna give it a whirl this month then will prob go back to just lots of dtd next month if it doesn't happen this time.

What does it literally stand for?

And what is OPK?! Won't just doing it everyday increase your chances?

Sorry, it stands for sperm meets egg plan. Opk is ovulation prediction kit, so you're basically doing it every other day in the run up to ovulation then daily around the time you ovulate. You could do it every day if you have the stamina for it, I know I don't, especially if it takes more than a few months! However, I think some people say doing it every day reduces the quality of the sperm but I don't know if there's anything scientific to back that up. I'm only on my 3rd month of trying so am just learning all this as I go along!

DH and I have only recently decided to start trying. Have been on Dianette for 8 years and have PCOS so don't think we will conceive quickly... (Fingers crossed though!) have no idea how regular AF is going to be with all this considered.
