EWCM

Me and my hubby are on our first cycle of TTC baby number 1 Grin
We are very, very excited!!!

I had a Mirena for 2.5 years which I had removed at the end of May. Whilst I had my Mirena my periods were barely worth paying attention to (it only consisted of spotting for a few days) so I have absolutely no idea what my normal cycles are and when my fertile phases are etc. Me and DH have gone for the JS'ing route seeing as I have no previous cycles to compare things to.

However, after never having known what EWCM was until I joined mumsnet I have just had some!!!! Woohoo!!

So I know that has to be a good sign Grin

So does that mean I have ovulated?

Me and DH DTD on days 12 and 15 so far.

Today is day 16.

I know the chances of me getting pregnant on our first cycle, especially seeing as I'm probably all over the place after having my Mirena for so long, are very slim but I so, so, so desperately do want it to happen straight away Grin

So if my new EWCM means I have just ovulated I'm guessing last night's DTD would be our best bet.

Should we perhaps do it again tonight though just to be sure??

Who would have thought that the most natural thing in the world, to procreate, could be so complicated Smile

If you have EWCM don't stop now! Generally the pattern is that it drys up once you have ov'ed. Keep going, for sure. Good luck.

Oh right - I thought EWCM meant the window of opportunity was over Blush

It is all very new to me Confused

Do you think we need to DTD again tonight if we did it last night??

You might just as well. Could be your last opportunity this month, but if you see more tomorrow then keep going if you can. It's a fine line, don't stress out feeling you have to but no point in missing an opportunity to conceive without reason.

It's the hormone surge of LH before ov that causes EWCM. How far before depends on the individual, but it is a sign that ov is coming. So keep at it!

I might ask him for a quickie then Shock

We have had a really busy day today and the hot weather isn't helping!

I feel drained - I don't think I have it in me to have a full on session Grin

Hopefully you're in bed doing the deed as I type but just thought I'd weigh in and say the others are right - keep having sex as long as you still have EWCM. It actually gets produced in response to rising oestrogen levels rather than LH but that doesn't really matter. It is a sign that ovulation is going to happen soon. Some women have 4/5/6 days EWCM per cycle and some only 1. Have sex on as many EWCM days as you can and you will be going a long way towards cutting down the number of months it takes to conceive. Once the egg has popped out your body starts producing progesterone and that makes your EWCM dry up so once it's gone that's an indication that ovulation has already happened. Best of luck!

Thanks Fairy,

I only saw EWCM once yesterday evening (and it was obviously that) but I haven't seen it since. Is it something that should be there throughout the day then? I will have to keep a look out for any today Smile

I wish I could say that we DTD last night, but we didn't. We got in to bed and just fell asleep, lol - we were so tired.

But - tonight we will be DTD for definite!!!! Grin
