TTC but finding all this BD a bit of a chore

Hi all

Is it just me or does the whole ttc business turn the activity part with the DH into a bit of a chore for both sides when the pressure is on to do it as much as possible?

just asking as it seems to be almost like a chore like the ironing or cleaning the oven which we both desperately try to avoid after the 5th night in a row!

good luck to all - here's hoping for lots of BFB for all us ttc ladies

Hi Blueskies19. I have been ttc since April. However,I only D.T.D two days a week (Wed and Fri) as due to circumstances that is the only time I can see my I wont call him my partner he's more a friend with beneifts, and believe me up to now it is far from a chore. (I'll spare you the details).(L.O.L) However there'll be no love making 2morrow A.F has seen to that, she arrived today! .ARRRGGGHHH!.
I would happily make love every night if I could but I suppose it would become a chore in the end. Also it's all fine and dandy doing constantly but if it's not at the right time it's not going to make a baby. I also read/heard as well that making love too often can weaken sperm and that twice a week was ample.
Good luck on your ttc journey. May I ask how long have you been trying. xxx

I agree internationlove, I was also told that DTD every day can be more detrimental than helpful as the sperm quantity/quality doesn't have enough time to reproduce.

I was told to DTD ever 2-3 days.

I think its quite an outdated view that sex every other day is better than every day... New studies show daily ejaculation increase speed mobility and decreased the % of sperm with DNA issues. Except in certain circumstances, sex everyday is beneficial in trying to conceive...

I also wondered this, sometimes we have to dtd a couple of days in a row as we both work silly shifts.
Going to have a read!

We're dtd every other day but no idea when I'll ovulate - cd12 and still no smiley!Sad

blueskies19 · 05/07/2013 12:25

hi all,

thanks for that info and the link - that's useful to know about the swimmers.

I've been trying for over 12 months internationlove and am getting a bit stressed about it - am due to go down the ivf route which I really don't want to in the next few months.

AF due today and have all the usual PMS symptoms so it will be back to trying again - has anyone had any luck with OPKs? Just bought myself some but friends say they haven't really worked for them - am never sure when I ovulate.

Also does anyone know or had the AMH hormone test to check egg reserve and if so is this something your GP can organise?

Best of luck to all of us ttc ladies

If you don't know when you ov I would definitely recommend opks. Theclearblue advanced ones are the easiest. You can see days in advance when ov is coming up. They might be more expensive than ones you get on the Internet, but they take all the doubt away for most people.

blueskies19 · 05/07/2013 14:23

thanks for that blueamber - I'll give them a try

OPKs usually work fine if you don't have PCOS. They work for me very one - I get one clear surge just before mid-cycle. Exactly what you would expect.

It's ok to call "BD" by its actual name you know. We are all adults here.
