hi.
after a bit of advice for my sis.
she is now 39 and her and her fella were trying to conceive for well over two years(they have children separately but wanted one together).
anyway as time went on and they approached their forties they decided it was getting a bit late for them and that it wasn't meant to be so she decided to go back onto the coil.
shes had it back in about six months now.
spoke to her this morning and shes been having one or two pregnancy symptoms(sore boobs, food aversions and is having what feels like baby movement!)
so my question is,is it possible to get pregnant on the coil and is there anyone on here it has actually happened to?

My dps cousins baby was a coil baby.. But she had no end of problems and born at 24 weeks but she's a gorgeous healthy 2 year old now Smile

ooh im not going to get my hopes up but id love it if she was as im currently 19 weeks.
it would be mad if they spent years trying then it happened when they were using contraception!

Tell her to get her bum to tesco for a test.. And possibly doctors to confirm
Either way Smile

My niece was conceived when my SIL was on the coil

You can, but if you do you are more at risk of an ectopic (though if she is feeling baby movements she's obviously past that) - worth getting checked out though as ectopic pregnancies can be very dangerous.

My brother in law was conceived whilst his mum had a Coil.

The modern ones are apparently quite a lot more reliable than they used to be, apparently as reliable or more so than the pill. So hopefully not! (I have a coil, can you tell?) They told me that usually if/when it happens the coil has gone for a wander without you noticing.

Hmm the coil baby I know was two today and I know the coil was still in place as I saw it on the scan in the EPU when she was 5 weeks!
