Indulgent post but my gosh, my forehead has erupted into a series of pubescent red spots Hmm I'm cd10 of first month off the combined pill and clearly I need those hormones pounding into me I keep my skin clear. What makes this worse tenfold is standing in front of 30 kids teaching them sex ed and "changes" and here's me, 25years old with three mountains on my forehead. Has this happened to anyone else? Yes! I got on the pill because of spots, and it worked really well, then changed to a lighter pill which still worked okay, but then I stopped and the spots came back! Not as bad as when I was a teenager though, but still enough to make me feel bad and it got even worse during ovulation time! Luckily now it seems to be calming down again. I have started using sudocrem (yes really), I put it on at night and maybe it's helping to calm my skin down a bit. I feel too old for all this nonsense!

Tea1Sugar · 03/07/2013 21:40

Sudocrem! I'm on it Grin

wow already? It's not working like that for me, but it is slowly getting better! Glad to have helped though Grin

I got this too after coming off Yasmin 18m ago :-( got really bad for a while which I eventually realised was due to taking evening primrose oil which is often recommended for TTC. Once I went off it things improved a bit. I'm managing to keep it at an acceptable level with dermalogica medibac stuff but my wallet isn't happy :-(

Tea1Sugar · 04/07/2013 10:54

I'm not going to jinx it and get ahead of myself but im much more confident this morning. Plus I caked it on like a face pack which was not conducive to dp wanting a shag last night!

My skin was awful pre-pill (not great on it) and reverted to pre-pubescent when I came off the Pill to TTC. After a few m

Doh!

As I was saying, after a few months it did settle down but the best thing is to find a good skin care regime that works for you.

DisneyDiva87 · 04/07/2013 17:50

I'm the same, my chin is horrendous. I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil though I didn't know that could make it worse! I'm not taking any more ever!

I have a cream from the Dr's that I put on every couple of nights (if I remember) I think it basically dissolves any dirt/dead skin to prevent spots and also clears bacteria. The brand name is Duac but can't remember what the active ingredient is. Gonna try sudocrem if I can find it.

shellmck · 04/07/2013 19:27

I have used sudocrem since I was 13 for spots and still use it today if I get the odd spot or two, I would swear by it.

shellmck · 04/07/2013 19:28

p.s im 33 now ha

I've had spots on my back since coming off the pill and also a few spots on my neck Hmm
Gross.

DisneyDiva I'm sure EPO doesn't have the same effect on everyone, but it might be worth going off it for a few weeks or a month to test. I used to took it for the first half of my cycle, and eventually noticed a slight pattern to the worst spots around ovulation, which made me wonder if EPO was the culprit. Although I am still a bit spotty, going off EPO has stopped almost all of the ones I get on my back, chest and neck.
At the end of the day we take EPO for its hormonal effects, and acne is caused by hormones.

DisneyDiva87 · 09/07/2013 10:11

I noticed last cycle that my spots got worse around ovulation and better towards AF, I was only taking EPO up until ovulation so it could be having an effect. I've dumped the bottle in my drawer for this month, hopefully my skin won't be quite as bad.

gillywillywoo · 09/07/2013 10:33

Disney I had terrible spots last week and the day before my positive OPK they started to calm down... Then the day of my positive OPK they were even better...
Now I think I'm 1dpo and they've pretty much all vanished! Weird eh?! Bloody hormones.

blueamber · 09/07/2013 10:45

My spots got worse around ov time, so it might not be the epo causing it, but just the hormones...

DisneyDiva87 · 09/07/2013 11:29

I'm gonna try not taking it this month and see what happens

Tea1Sugar · 09/07/2013 19:55

Gilly - same! Crap skin Monday/Tuesday last week, Friday positive opk, by Sunday all clear!
