When to start testing? I'm only cd7 and this is first cycle of ttc no2 and first cycle off the pill. I've never used them before but dtd last night to try pre-seed for the first time - its so slippery! Blush

I was wondering this too! I have a Clearblue pack waiting to be broken open for the first time.. Am on cycle day 7 too!

If you go to the website they have a table which advises you when to start testing- you find the number of days your cycle usually is then they give you a number next to it which shows which day to start. I think I start on cycle day 10 as my last cycle was about 32 days.

DulcetMoans · 30/06/2013 15:19

Yeah, normally there is a table depending on your cycle length to show what day to start. What I would say though is that I think they can be quite late sometimes. I've had a smiley on CD7 and CD9 in past months which I would have missed if I followed the rules. I tend to start a day or two after AF ships out when I use them.

Tea1Sugar · 02/07/2013 06:05

2 more questions! What time of day should I be using them ( currently first thing) and when should I expect a smiley? I'm cd9 today.

I think the clearblue ones tell you to test with your first morning urine, so your doing it right.

And you can't know when you'll get a smiley! With 28 day cycles, on average a woman ovulates two weeks before her period (around cd14), but it really differs per person. That's why you start testing a while before.

blueamber · 02/07/2013 10:12

*you're doing it right Blush

LittleMouseontheDairy · 02/07/2013 17:07

I have done it with the first morning urine as advised. I got a bit over excited and did it yesterday even though according to the table I should start at cycle day 10. I got a blank yesterday but a flashing smiley today (cycle day 9) so it does appear to be the case that things can be a little unpredictable..

Bump!

How long is your cycle normally, Tea1Sugar?

I am on my second month of using these. I tend to start as soon as AF has cleared up, but I think I might ov quite early as I got a peak fixed smiley on cd 8 last month, which was only my second day of testing. This month I got 6 days (I think) of flashing smiley and then the fixed one yesterday on cd10. My cycle tends to be around 29 days, although last month was 25 days for some reason.

Yes, def use on first wee (I think the packet says to use on the first urine after your longest sleep).

And, I agree with the others - start testing a couple of days earlier than it says on the packet.

LittleMouseontheDairy · 03/07/2013 10:02

Sorry to hijack a bit, but does the test still work with urine later in the day? For various reasons I didn't get back to my test in time this morning so I missed what the symbol was! Annoying. Is it worth doing again later today? I don't really want to waste one if not.
TIA.

charleylarlie · 03/07/2013 10:13

I'm afraid I don't know, LittleMouse. I wouldn't like to give you the wrong advice. Is there a helpline on the packet - maybe worth giving CB a call, just to check? Hope you get your fixed smiley soon! Smile

LittleMouseontheDairy · 03/07/2013 10:36

Thanks Charleylarlie, I picked through the website and it says 'always use the first urine of the day' so I guess it's better not to waste a test. Oh well, will just have to make sure I don't miss the result tomorrow! makes mental note to be more organised in morning on a work day

blueamber · 03/07/2013 10:46

so you did wee on the stick and put it in, but you missed the result? in that case, just press the button and it will give you the result!

LittleMouseontheDairy · 03/07/2013 10:58

Oh cheers- thanks blueamber! Luckily I had the test with me at work - shoved in my handbag. I reached in and pressed the button and there's a flashing smiley. Now I just need to dispose of the ejected wee stick! Grin
