BFP on 2 home tests but BFN at Dr's?

hi, I tested positive yesterday afternoon at home. I went to the walk in centre last night as I was worried about severe pains in my shoulder I've had for 2 days now. today is the 3rd day. I know this can be a symptom of ectopic preg, and you are more susceptible to ectopics with coil removal, I had mine removed in march. so at the walk in centre they did a test, it was bfn but showed blood in my urine! nurse said I could be about to have AF.....I still haven't, I tested again this morning using a first response test and the line was clearer! so 2 home bfp and 1 bfn from nurse. blood in urine and painful shoulder. any advice?

thanks for the kind words ladies :D unforunately I don't think things are going right :(

I couldn't wait 2 weeks to go back to a&e as the pains in my shoulder got worse yesterday, I had bloods done again which showed high liver levels whatever that means.....but more importantly to me my hormone levels went from 30 on tuesday night to 37 yesterday afternoon :( that sounds impossible to me but the gynae dr has booked me in for a scan tomorrow afternoon.

he said- it could be a failing pregnancy, unlikely to be ectopic because shoulder pain comes when internal bleeding has started and I'm not in pain anywhere else. not bleeding or spotting! he also saod as long as the levels are rising we shouldn't have anything to worry about :/ but I cant help it since I know that the levels are supposed to double every couple of days!!

so, scan tomorrow afternoon and bloods taken so keeping my fingers crossed for normal hormone levels! any advice? good or bad! is it even possible that this pregnancy will carry on with such low hormone levels?

oh also the Dr said I am only 2-3 weeks but tge gynae said 6-7 weeks?! my last period was 24th May x

Not everyone's does though Mrs Anderson. There's a lady on here said her levels never doubled, and she had a healthy pg. It's possible. Fingers crossed.

You could've missed a period possibly? You'll get a more definite when they scan you as they can measure it and date it. Best of luck - hope everything's ok x

MrsAnderson22 · 01/07/2013 21:23

ok! I went for my scan today to be told that at such low levels they won't be able to see anything, so I didn't have one! had bloods drawn and just received the phonecall to say that my levels have gone from 37 to 86 in 48 hours so rising ok. want me back in 48 hours to test again. seems my levels are still very low for being '7 weeks' if that is in fact how far on I am! I'm still a little confused though, this might sound silly but they think I might be earlier on than they think. is it possible that I fell pregnant in June, 2 weeks before my missed period which would only make me 3 weeks ish? I know they go off the last period which is why they are saying 7 weeks! but early pregnancy means low levels right? still not out of the woods yet as they want to monitor my levels every 48 hours as they're very low for 7 weeks! what do you think? x

I have taken a clear blue digital test today which has me at 2-3 weeks x

RaRaZ · 02/07/2013 21:57

So are you saying you might have missed a period and THEN got pregnant before you next period? Ie miss May's period, got pregnant, miss June's? It's slightly unlikely I think....but perfectly possible; people miss periods all the time for all kinds of reasons. Were you stressed or ill that you recall in May? That could've stopped that period coming.

I think you're gonna have to wait for the scan to be sure though - but I believe Clear Blue is pretty accurate. Did they say when they expect to be able to scan you??

MrsAnderson22 · 02/07/2013 22:11

hi, no I had a period in May on 24th. what I mean is, is it possible that I could have fallen pregnant when I ovulated before my missed period (june) so I would only be a week or 2 pregnant when I was due my june period which was due on 24th june but didnt appear obviously. having bloods drawn tomorrow again, they cant scan until my levels are in the thousands x

Gosh, what a nightmare you've been on MrsAnderson I hope all goes well tomorrow and your levels have shot through the roof.

Fingers crossed you have a sticky bean, I don't envy you all this stress and drama!

RaRaZ · 03/07/2013 11:38

Yes. I can't think how else it would've happened tbh! So yeah, if you ovulated and conceived around the 10th, say, you'd have been growing it for three weeks now and would be classed as 5weeks pregnant when they take the measurements.

MrsAnderson22 · 03/07/2013 12:18

well I've just had my bloods taken, waiting another agonising 8 hours for the phonecall with results. if the levels have doubled I'll be called back in 2 weeks for a scan and if they have stayed pretty much the same it means going every 48 hours for bloods drawn. fingers crossed for a double.

there's still confusion between drs with how far on I am! one is convinced its 7 weeks......I won't listen until they scan me and tell me! x

DisneyDiva87 · 03/07/2013 12:45

Will they phone you tonight or do you have to wait till tomorrow morning for the results?

MrsAnderson22 · 03/07/2013 13:55

they will phone me tonight between 7-8, although they said that 2 days ago and I was clock watching til 9pm before I got the call.

Maybe you should rent a film tonight to provide distraction?

RaRaZ · 03/07/2013 14:42

That's not such a bad idea. I know it won't help as such, but the quicker the time goes and the nicer a manner it which it passes, the better I think! Try not to sit around worrying - though I know I would :-/ Fingers tightly crossed for you Mrs A.

MrsAnderson22 · 03/07/2013 15:04

thanks :) I'm being kept busy so far...my mother is visiting from scotland for 3 days, my 2 kids, my 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, guinea pig oh and of course the husband :D I'm sure the next 4-6 hours will fly by :/ I'll comment as soon as the results are in ;)

RaRaZ · 03/07/2013 19:40

Good luck Mrs A!

MrsAnderson22 · 03/07/2013 21:47

hey ladies :) I've had my phonecall (at 9.20pm!!!!) my levels have risen to 136 but Dr (who thinks I'm 7 weeks) is not happy at all as she thinks they're waaaay too low. She's going to speak to the consultant tomorrow to see what they can do next, another phonecall to wait for! should hear by midday tomorrow. so anyway I don't think I'm 7 weeks and wasn't too concerned with the numbers as long as they were doubling I thought I was fine...she then goes onto say "do you have any of our leaflets? if you have any pain tonight or blood, phone ward 21 and they'll get you straight in!!" that's just sent me panicking again! this is the dr who, although, thinking I'm 7 weeks told me on Monday that I was for sure having either an ectopic pregnancy or just on the verge of a miscarriage and she was "pretty certain" my levels wouldn't rise. she must be amazing at her job with her sonic eyesight mustn't she?! they can't see anything on an ultrasound but she can tell me exactly what she reckons is happening before taking bloods and without even examining me! so sick of this I just want to know what's going on :( I have a 2nd dr telling me everything looks great and I may just be earlier than expected and I will be scanned in 2 weeks which is obviously not happening now unless consultant agrees! x

Bloody hell Mrs A. I don't think your doctors are doing very well with their oath to 'first, do no harm' - sounds like they're stressing the hell out of you :-/ That's no good at all. You poor thing - I know how you're feeling kinda - when I had my mc (please don't think I'm trying to say the same is happening to you), they were so cold and matter-of-fact about it, like it was a scab peeling off a wound or something rather than anything that would break my heart in two all over again. Horrifying that they can be so heartless about something like this - pregnancy can be terrifying and as women we feel so out of control. I'd say bear in mind what the first doctor told you so you are prepared for the worst, but take it with a pinch of salt for now - I reckon if the prognosis were so dire, the other doctor would have cause for concern too. Let's hope I'm right - my thoughts are very much with you.

MrsAnderson22 · 04/07/2013 11:34

Dr has rang back, she spoke to the consultant who said everything looks like it's progressing well, I'm obviously just in very early stages, to leave me a week then take more bloods :D x
