Got nexplanon implant removed, still waiting for period

Dh and I are about to start trying for Baby #2. I got my implant removed 23 May, and I wanted to wait until after my first period before we started trying. I also had a virus and stinking cold when I got it removed so it made sense to wait til I was feeling better and not coked up on paracetamol.
Anyway, about 10-12 days after I had loads of CM so thought I must have been ovulating, and I started getting cramps about day 21, so figured that my period was on its way. But it's day 32 and there's still no sign of it. Cramps also gone.
When I came off Mini pill before Baby 1, I got my period on day 28, and was clockwork for the next few months.
Am I being impatient waiting for my period, or does it take longer to get back to normal? The Dr said my fertility would return immediately after removal. Just wondering if anyone else out there had to wait a bit?

Can take a looooooong time! I had implanon removed in August and my cycles are all over the place. 80 or 60 or 30 days or anywhere in the middle.

theborrower · 23/06/2013 15:22

Were your cycles regular before going on implant?

Not absolutely but much better than that. However, it has been a long time since then!

The great thing is I am ovulating so don't let that scare you. Scans and temping have shown that.

Are you charting?

theborrower · 23/06/2013 16:18

No. Last time I had several cycles that were 28-32, and observed CM mid cycle each time, and felt my cervix too so noticed when it was soft and high. We then conceived second month we tried. I figured that I would do same again - just being aware of CM (and oh yeah, have sex every other day from after period!). Dont think I can be bothered with charts.
Will CM keep changing even if not ovulating? :-s

I think it can yes. Sometimes your body can gear up to ovulate and then not! I think this happened to me recently when we experienced a death of a friend and ovulation then happened later in the month.

theborrower · 23/06/2013 16:46

Oh right. How do you know that you definitely do then? Could illness prevent it? I was feeling shoddy for first 2 and half weeks, better after 3

Ah because that was the month I had my scan and I was literally just about to ovulate! I also have a clear patterns of temperatures.

Try not to stress too much! I know that's a bit of a ridiculous thing to say!

I had mine out in end of may by the beginning of june I had a period, speak to your gp if your concerned. all the best :)

Bump. Just wondering if anyone else?
It's day 34 and still no sign, think it's going to pass me by!
Also a bit annoyed bc DH and I had unprotected sex other night, so I guess in theory I should act as if I could be pregnant until I know otherwise, if you know what I mean. That's why I wanted to get my cycles back, so I'd know where I was with things. I've not to take my IBS meds when pregnant. And I really want to take done hayfever meds (on a trip just now to visit family in different part of country) and really struggling!!

Ach, should we just start TTC now and I'll cut the meds?

I never had a period after my implant was removed , on day 64 I think it was I got a bfp ! I am now 19 weeks pregnant with twins , good luck

theborrower · 25/06/2013 09:08

Congratulations! Did you take a test bc it was fairly obvious you were feeling pregnant?

No it was because I had been having unprotected sex and wanted to drink that weekend , I felt no different

ThoraNomiki · 25/06/2013 11:29

It took 4 months for my first period to turn up. But it did and I'm sure yours will too. It drove me crazy waiting. I felt like I was in Limbo "Am I pregnant? Is it secondary infertility? Has the implant messed me up completely?" I worried about drinking in case I was pregnant. In the end I ordered 30 internet cheapy pregnancy tests from Ebay and took at least one a week. It eased my mind a bit for an hour

Ask your docs about your meds. They'll probably advise you keep taking them until you get a positive. It could take a while for you to get that BFP and the meds might not affect your pregnancy in the 2 week wait - but do check with your GP. They might have an alternative which could be safer.

In total it took 155 days from implant out to first period. If you get to 5-6 months go to your GP

Hi - I had my implant removed on 8th May - Still no AF and no BFP - So I am in the same boat :)

theborrower · 25/06/2013 16:37

Got it! So I've been worrying about nothing, it was just a bit later than expected. Right, will enjoy a wee glass of wine tonight, and Operation Baby #2 starts next week!
