Crapping myself waiting for dh's SA result

Hi everyone

Lurker and very occasional poster here. Am writing this on my phone so apologies for any mistakes!

A bit of background - cycle 15 ttc #1. Was a bit concerned about my progesterone levels as I have a shortish luteal phase with spotting. Day 21 tests came back as 28 and 31 - so just below and just above the threshold for maintaining pregnancy (AFAIK).

Dh rang gp today to see if results of 1st semen analysis are back. Receptionist said they are, but he would have to discuss with gp at a telephone appointment tomorrow.

Am probably over thinking this, but if everything was OK, wouldn't the receptionist be able to say so? As is the case with blood tests? At my surgery a gp checks blood test results and the receptionist can say if they are OK.

I know a SA is more complicated than a blood test... But aaargh I'm so worried what the outcome might be and am going to worry all night Sad

SA results are very complicated. We had to sit down with a calculator to work out the percentages and what it all meant. Its not always as simple as passing or failing so I can't imagine any doctor being willing to hand over the results without explaining them (and trying to figure it out themselves) first.
I know the wait is awful though. We had a long wait too so I understand the anxiety but it wouldn't be helped by a receptionist reading off a list of random numbers and percentages.
I hope you get the results soon. Good luck.

Thank you Thingamyjigs (stupid app, can't see if I've spelled you name right!)

That's what I thought. But hearing from a voice of experience makes me feel a lot better!

Posted on here as don't want to get home an pour my anxiety on to dh.

We were on cycle 14 ttc #1 and had just had our 'tests' done and we were asked to make an appointment to discuss my husband's SA. Before the appointment we had our 1st BFP and she's nearly 2 now! There couldn't have been much wrong! Wishing you the very best of luck!

Thank you so much Bonnie. It's reassuring to hear a positive story. Oh, I really hope the same happens for us!

I think SA results are always given by a Dr.

When we had them we could phone the urologist the next day and get the results.

We found he could explain them much better than the gynae cons could.

There's no point in just getting a ok/not ok result wirh sperm. You need to known actual figures and what they mean as a whole.

Good luck to you.

Thank you thank you. Am going to snap out of this ridiculousness.
