Mirena and conceiving

Iv had the mirena fitted for two years with no problems, I stopped having periods 3 months after it was fitted.

We have talked about trying for dc no2 at the end of this year would like a summer baby. (Of things go to planBlush)

I'm calling out to anyone that has had the mirena and had it removed, not sure when I should have it took out.

How long did it take for periods to come back?
How long did it take to conceive after?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

I have had two of these, and on my third now, I had mine removed, and got pregnant within 2 months each time.

Good luck!

Hi Smile

I had my mirena for about 3 years and had no periods for most of that. i had it removed on the 9th april. I had a normal 4 day period the day after removal. Im currently on cycle 3 now of ttc. Not sure how long it will take (hopefully not too long!) im starting to wish now that we had started sooner as the age gap between ds and bambino will be bigger than i ideally would have wanted. But ds was an 'accident' so i thought obviously it will happen straight away this time....

I think that a lot of the time it isnt easy to plan for when they will be born. These things tend to happen when nature wants and not when we want! Personally i would get it removed sooner rather than later and allow for a couple of months trying first. If you fell pg july time it would be due march/april. Id rather do that an have the baby here for summer than it take longer and be heavily pregnant over the hot summer months (my ds was born end of june 4 years ago and it was one of the hottest junes for years and it was so uncomfortable!) but each person is different just do it when you are ready Smile

Hi

I had mine out beginning of March - had three cycles now... and nothing as yet :-(

I had no periods at all in the four years I had mine in.

I would def get it out sooner rather than later.

Good luck!! xx

Thank you.
I need to get a move on would like to have a couple of periods first as well.

I'm not set on a summer baby but would like to avoid may, mine and dp's are a week apart in may and don't want one near christmas DS is January and its too soon after Christmas, apart from that I'm not too fussy Blush
