Planning to come off pill soon but havn't had a period since being on it.
Do we just dtd as and when to start with?
Won't have any idea when I ovulate so do I need to wait for a proper bleed first?
Also, is withdrawal bleed considered a proper period or not?

It's up to you whether you start ttc straight away or not. Some Drs advise you to get to know your cycles before ttc so that you can date the pregnancy, but to be honest that is what scans are for!

A withdrawl bleed is not a true period. A true period can only happen after ovulation has happened. You can bleed without ovulating, though technically this is a breakthrough bleed and not a period.

As you won't know where you are in your cycle, the best advice is to have sex 2-3 times a week and see what happens. If you don't have a period within 6 months of coming off the Pill, and pregnancy tests are negative, go and see your GP to ask for investigations.

I came off the pill six weeks ago and had a withdrawal bleed within a few days. However, it then took until now to ovulate - I know this because I recognise all the signs, such as cervical position. By understanding when you ovulate you start to understand your cycle better, so reading up on this might help.

It really differs per person when the cycle starts again, some people ovulate two weeks after stopping, but for others it takes longer. Additionally, the first few cycles might not be regular.

So i should have a withdrawal bleed then ovulate then have a proper period? But it'll take a while before there's a pattern to things?

That's about it, yes! Everyone is different, some women settle straight ask into a regular cycle, others (like me!) will take time for things to settle down.

A key indicator will be what your periods were like before you went on the Pill. Were you regular back then?

I also read that if you took 2 or 3 strips after each other (without stopping for a week) before you went off the pill it might take longer for your hormones to go back to normal. I think this was the case with me!

I've not had regular periods in about 10 years so I've no idea. The pill I take is one everyday but you don't bleed on it. I did get pregnant the first time within the month of stopping but I've no idea about charting or anything like that, we just shagged a lot and ended up pregnant!

I didn't bleed on my pill Fatty (feels rude calling you that) but I got my first period 5 weeks after stopping and have had a 30 day cycle since then, I pretty sure that's about what I was before I went on the pill (was so long ago!)

You don't need to track your cycle if you don't want to, shagging a lot will certainly get you pg! Some women just prefer it (like me) although I don't know if I'll keep it up for long cause I think it makes me go a bit more crazy for the 2ww.
