After 4 years TTC, diagnosed unexplained, not eligible for NHS IVF, my GP finally caved in sick of seeing me and has given me 3 months Clomid. This month 50mg and so far so good, no side effects, no on CD16 of usual 27/28 before AF is due.

I think I ovulated 2 days ago because I had pains and can usually tell because I'm always bloated until the egg pops then I feel two sizes thinner almost straight away Grin It doesn't last though...

Please please please let this work for us! Next month its 100mg and month 3 will be 150mg.

Is anyone else taking Clomid and not being monitored or scanned?

Hi there, why oh why oh why are you not being cared for by a fertility clinic? Why aren't you being scanned for this first cycle? Confused That's awful. And it's so stressful ... I don't suppose you would be offered counselling or anything similar?

After trying for 1yr without success, we were referred to a NHS fertility clinic. Like you, we had unexplained (secondary) infertility and I was given 50mg Clomid. I wa scanned for the first cycle only.

I found that ovulation symptoms were more pronounced, as well as pre-menstrual symptoms. I'd have increased breast tenderness and would feel tearful.

Try not to worry or feel too dejected if this cycle doesn't result in a pregnancy. I didn't get of with dd2 until my 6th cycle. So, Clomid works, even if its not instant.

Good luck x

Oh God, your GP is going to up your Clomid next mo th and again the month after without knowing how your body tolerates the drug?

I was on 50mg for all of those 6m I took it. Can you not find another GP, OP, or demand to be referred to someone who knows what they're doing?

You've been fobbed off and badly so.

Why haven't you been seemingly referred to a subfertility unit?.

A diagnosis of unexplained is actually no diagnosis at all; all this means is that they have failed to find out what is wrong. Sometimes this so called diagnosis is given to couples when they as a couple have not been adequately investigated.

Shocking as well that the GP has prescribed clomid and without monitoring to boot; you have no idea of knowing whether its doing the job its supposed to be doing (clomid's main job is to make the ovaries work harder). Its quite powerful stuff; no monitoring is completely unacceptable. Clomid does not work for everyone and to be given this as well without seemingly proper testing to boot is just wrong on some many levels.

What tests have both of you had done to date?.

Hi, I feel a bit scared now tbh... do you think I should ask to be monitored for the next cycle?

We have been TTC, I'm 40, I've had bloods which I cant remember the results from, I think progesterone level was 26? SA came back normal, but with lower than average morphology, we were referred to a hospital 'over the border' in Cheshire, we are in Staffs, but at the time there was no NHS funding for fertility treatments unless we met very strict criteria. We don't meet the criteria because DH has a child from his previous relationship. We can't afford to pay for private treatment which is why I have been going back to my GP. I asked for an ultrasound or anything to check everything is working etc but she said the HSG showed that tubes were clear. So I cried, again, and she gave me a presciption for Clomid.

Aw trying sorry you feel scared, I think atilla is right Hun though, with no monitoring whatsoever how are you supposed to know if its worked? Your dr seems like they just thought giving you this would maybe help but as atlilla says it doesn't Always work , as I have pcos I'm taking to try abd make me ovulate , I think if u have no problem ovulating it can help with egg quality aswell so could be another reason why the dr thought it was worth a try, I'd try speaking with dr before you take next cycle- fx you don't need it again but just incase :) xxxx this ttc business is a bitch!!!! Confused Big hugs :) x
