Was it a period or not...?

I am 31 and have a DS aged 22 months. I literally conceived the very time we had unprotected sex so never had to worry about whether I was ovulating etc. We have been ttc DC2 for about 2 months and I have been trying to keep track of my cycle. AF was due on 25th but didn't show. The week prior to that I did have some very light spotting for a few days (so light that I only noticed when I wiped) but didnt think that was my AF.

Because I was late and had very sore breasts for over a week I did a test yesterday morning but it was negative. So now I'm confused! Was the spotting really AF? Or was it too early for a test?

Also (slightly tmi) I have also been experiencing some vaginal bleeding on a couple of occasions the past 2 weeks whilst having a bowel movement and during sex. I recall with DS that I had a very sensitive cervix whilst pregnant with him and it would bleed very often. Coincidence maybe or a sign I am pregnant...?

Didn't want to read and run because I can imagine that is causing you some concern. I wouldn't have thought that amount of spotting would count as AF, perhaps an implantation bleed? But a week past AF due date and still negative, perhaps try a different brand of test? I have read other people saying sometimes (only sometimes) they have got positive on one of the more expensive ones. I think if I were in your position I would make an appointment with the GP to be reassured if nothing changes in the next few days.

Good luck - Hopefully my bumping it up the forum will bring some more knowledgeable responses.
