Hello Mumsnet,

Me and my DW (both early 20's) are TTC #1 and its getting hard to deal with the disappointment each month. I'm struggling to say anything supportive other than "We just need to keep trying and soon it will happen" and thats not helping. Any tips on how to stay supportive and how I can help my DW when she is low?

If you are both in your early 20s I don't think there is any need to worry yet. Most fertility experts don't even recommend going to the GP until after the first year at this age. If your wife is feeling low, how about suggesting that you take a 2 or 3 month break from ttc? Keep having sex and not using contraception but not ttc if you know what I mean. If she is charting, using fertility predictors try etc, try and persuade her to have a break from those too.

It can be hard for both of you but you seem supportive anyway, worried enough to come on here. Just keep offering cuddles and sympathy. Make sure she has some things to look forward to as well, days out together etc.

Hope you both enjoy your summer and get the result you want Smile

Should have said too, each time we've ttc we've done the whole, weren't not ttc were just having fun thing. It does take the pressure off but know how hard it can be.

Can you get her to join Mn too? Its a great place for reassurance and sympathy.

If it helps any we started ttc in nov 2012 for our 1st and still nothing. I have developed very painful ibs due to the stress of it.

I need my partner to be nice and gentle with me, posotive about all the reserch that I do and do some of his own.

We are getting tested next week so getting that ball rolling has made me feel like we are moving in the right direction, also having accupuncture and hypno therapy over the next few months.

Good luck, I think you just have to keep telling yourself it will happen.
