I'm going on honeymoon finally (got married Dec) beginning of August. Does anyone have any advice about the advisability of TTC as soon as we get back. I'm 34, 35 in November, so want to get cracking ASAP

It depends on what you are taking. I was on anti-malarials for my honeymoon and was advised to wait 2 weeks I think after I stopped taking them before ttc. Your travel clinic should be able to advise you.

If you're not ttc now, then just have the jabs a bit sooner, most of them last ages. euro's right that the main thing'd be any antimalarials. It depends what you're on. There is little evidence tbh. I have taken malarone while ttc. It is out of the body very quickly. Others have a long half life. But much of SA is not malarial anyway.

Joburg wont need anything for, Kruger antimalarial (tho many locals don't bother in winter)

I'll have to take them I'm a magnet for hungry insects Wink

HOnestly, I wouldn't take the malaria medication for Kruger in August. Seems entirely unnecesary. And then you can use your honeymoon for TTC!

Its the dry season, v few mosquitos. Best protection anyway is long-sleeves, net and repellent. We were there in summer (wet season) didn't even get bitten!

Well there you go, might as well start now!

Would start now BUT with two big parties in July a Christening and a Wedding - I'd rather not! Wink
