I am 43 and about 5 years ago I had an endometrial ablation to control heavy bleeding and was sterilised at the same time.

FAst forward to now and I have a new partner and I am really regretting my decision.

I know it would be risky and obviously I would need a reversal first but am I being completely deluded?

apparently reversal is successful in 50% of cases. but certain things can up your potential success factor, like having the person who performed your sterilisation being the one to reverse it, the type of sterilisation and many other factors. you must also think about the fact this works both ways, and there are factors that can drag that percantage down.

i wish you good luck :)

I think that my main concern is the ablation. It is meant to destroy the lining of your womb. My periods never stopped though although they did become easier to cope with. Im assuming I have lining but whether it is enough ti sustain a pregnancy is the risk.

maybe an ultrasound or something similar could tell what risks there are as regards that. I guess it would be silly to go through the pain of a reversal when someone could confirm you cannot carry a child, but at the same time, my mother was told she could not have children and concieved and gave birth to me. So i guess you can never really totally know for sure without going through it.

A medical proffessional (maybe speak to the one who did the operation) would be the best one to speak to about this.

I know this is an old thread but my question is virtually identical to the original post. Just wondered if anyone had any further advice.
