Waiting to TTC, but so excited!

I am so excited to TTC but we are waiting for a bit.... and I can hardly stand it! I have been a lurker on MN for a little while and have used the Education sections as I am an teacher. I am looking forward to getting involved in the baby side of things!

In many ways we are in a perfect position to start TTC- I am nearly 28 and DH is 31, and we got married in April. He started a new job in January after two years retraining at Uni. We own a house. BUT, as I said, I am a teacher and I am starting a new, more demanding role in September. I really want to get my teeth into this new role and be there for the whole school year.

So we have decided to start trying at Christmas! I can't wait!

I'm also in the waiting camp, only because I have a DD who's only 3 months old! I'm going to have to go back to work for a bit in between babies so have to wait a minimum of a year before trying again but I absolutely cannot wait!

I'm trying around September because I had a back operation recently and want to wait a bit for it to heal. So excited!!! I'm going to start taking folic acid in the next couple of weeks, that will make it seem real! I'm 29 btw and this would be our first!

Oooh exciting! Love the planning part we are hoping to start ttc #2 in August. I too am planning coming off birth control for a bit before ttc. Slightly scared too as already have 13 month old...not sure how I'll cope with 2!

I'm also waiting for a bit until we ttc. We hope to start around Christmas and then see what happens. It's really exciting for the both of us I honestly can't think about anything else since we made our decision. I'm 27 btw, DH is 33 and it'll be our first

Ooh Jaba, maybe we will be TTC buddies at Christmas! I have just seen a photo of my friend's newborn and it's sooooo tempting to start straight away! However, I have just found out at school which year group I am moving to for September, so that has made me excited too with lots of new ideas for my new class so I will focus on that! I have decided to come off the pill in October as advised here!

Absolutely ButterPopcorn! My friend is due any day now so my broody ness levels are going to be high as soon as he is born! I was also thinking about coming off the pill a month or so beforehand as I really want my cycle to get back to normal (I've been on the pill for over 10 years).

This thread is so exciting!! Me and dh have decided to ttc from March next year...currently in the process of moving house and about to start a new job (hopefully) internal to my company though. Hoping I can persuade him to bring it forward to xmas but we have a friends wedding in aus in march next year so not sure how travel might be affected if I were pregnant. I can't wait though! Love kids and have so many nieces, nephews and pregnant friends that broodiness has shift through the roof the last few months! So hard to be sensible

It's like the calm before the storm isn't it, for a first and I can imagine for a subsequent DC as well! I'm planning on a big holiday beforehand. The last holiday of being a childless couple if we're lucky.

This is very exciting! DH has agreed ttc soon, though i am on depo just now it could take months before things return to normal, hopefully its quick as i cant take the excitement! we already have 3ds 8,4,2 . good luck ladies :)

Hi Buggerlugs, your story is sad and I wish you the best. It is selfless of you to come here and try to advise us and I know you are right. I have a paranoia of infertility/issues with conceiving and worry about this already...it is made worse by the fact that I have 3 sisters and each has conceived in their first month of trying, so everyone including dh expects the same to happen to me.

I am excited about the decision but afraid of what might happen and the 'pressure' on me so wont be telling ANYONE in rl that we are ttc. This is what mn is great for...telling people who don't know me the worries fears and excitement that you can't in rl and them supporting / encouraging / advising you....

Never, ever, ever plan a child around your career. Do it now.

..and definitely don't put off TTC for a friend's wedding or a fabulous holiday.

I remember that excited feeling :) and it is a lovely feeling, the idea of a new journey an all that. I'm in a similar position to Bugs so it didn't end up how I'd hoped so I'd reiterate what Bugs and Juicy say. Especially on the google front! Just be healthy and shag lots. Lots and lots. and lots. We did for the first year, didn't get us anywhere but t'was something for DH to stealth boast about every day at work

Even though in sooo excited about TTC I am still realistic that it may not happen. I'm pretty sure I don't have PCOS and since coming off the implant I've been regular. However, there may be other symptomless problems and who knows about DH's sperm. We've discussed adoption as a serious alternative and I'd be happy to go down that route if we can't conceive ourselves.

I do think JuicyPear is correct. Particularly after age 30 it's not a good idea to wait because of career/holiday/social event. It gives you 5 good years to sort out fertility problems and still not suffer from age-related infertility. Not everyone is lucky enough to be in those circumstances where you have a willing partner, so if you do, just go for it.

Thank you for sharing Buggerlugs and words of wisdom Juicy. Very true about it being something you can't control. I think forums like this are really helpful for tips and advice. I know one person who is expecting but don't have anyone I can really chat to about these things. It's nice to share excitement with others!
