High FSH and ovulation test

I have had high FSH for years, but managed to naturally conceive DS, now 2. Periods returned when he was about 8 months old, although he is still B/F at night.

Would an ovulation testing kit work for me, or would I confuse it with my weird hormones?

An ovulation kit is probably a waste of money for you as your high baseline will give a positive result all the way through your cycle most likely, sorry.

How high is high? I have fsh of 10 and can pick up my lh surge quite clearly. How does fsh effect this freelance?

An ov testing kit tests for LH levels, not FSH, so I don't see why high FSH would mean they wouldn't work.

My fsh was about 14 or 15 when I had it tested, but that was before DS, so I assume it is different now.

I just wanted to know if I ovulate at all, to stop the monthly "will I won't I".

I have bought a very cheap testing thing from Amazon to see what happens.

The tests can't always differentiate between FSH and LH as they are very similar hormones chemically - hCG is also similar hence why you can use some ovulation predictor kits as pregnancy tests (but preg test kits test for the bit of the hCG molecule that is specific so FSH and LH levels won't interfere with that).
Some test kits are better than others if they have a higher threshold for detection so a high baseline won't confuse them - but I dunno which ones so don't ask me! I know at our clinic we do blood tests for everyone we are tracking for ovulation unless their baselines are below 10 as the home testing kits are not reliable enough we have found.
