TTC with one fallopian tube

Hello all. I wondered if anybody could help me, I'm slightly confused about the ins and outs of conceiving with only one fallopian tube.

My right tube was removed after an ectopic pregnancy. Everytime I've asked a doctor about my fertility after this they've just sort of waved me off and vaguely saying there's nothing to worry about, fertility is only slightly reduced, it won't be a huge problem.

I'm just wondering as I'm going to start ttc next cycle. Yesterday I ovulated out of my right ovary (I know this because I get ovulation pains). Now, I am presuming that this egg is actually not going anywhere because it's on the wrong side, and that even if we dtd this month nothing would happen. It's a wasted egg. Is this correct?

Do my ovaries switch sides every cycle? So next cycle will I ovulate from my left ovary? Does this mean I only have a window once every 2 cycles or is the production a bit more random? What if I never ovulate from the left side?

Nope, its possible to conceive even when the egg comes from the "tubeless" side - the egg is released into your abdomen, and the tubes have some movement, so can collect the egg wherever it is released.

I'd ignore the ovulation pains, and DTD!

My MIL had an ectopic and then had my BIL and my lovely husband with no problems apparently! Good luck OP!!

My best friend had one fallopian tube removed when she was a teenager and conceived both her DS with no bother at all. Best of luck!

Wow really nextphase? That's incredible. My body never ceases to amaze me! Unfortunately I have to wait until my next cycle anyway as I had the MMR last week and you're supposed to wait a month before ttc as it's a live vaccine. But you've answered my question, thanks. And thanks to everyone else for putting my mind at rest :)

My body did just what nextphase said.

Lost my left tube to an ectopic.
My right ovary doesn't produce eggs so i thought my chances of getting pregnant were slim despite my consultant saying that the tube can reach over.

Ectopic in December 2009, fell pregnant in April 2010.
My right tube reached over and picked up the egg from my left ovary.
That month as much as this is probably going to make me sound like a mad woman ;) .... that month im sure i felt my tube move, i swear it was like a slight pinging like an elastic band pinging back. I know i sound like a right looney tune lol.

Its amazing isn't it, what our bodies can do.
