BFN but still feel pregnant?

Can somebody knock some sense into me, please? Realistically ? how often are pregnancy tests wrong? I bought a big pack of cheap ones of Amazon and got BFN twice. I?d be about 3 or 4 days past AF by now (although had really light, early AF that I had convinced myself was implantation bleeding).

The reviews seem fairly okay, but there do seem to be a small but significant number of people complaining that they came up negative, but they were actually pregnant. Has anybody had any experience of this, not just with the cheap ones, but on any brand? Or am I just clutching at straws?

Am sure I'm getting tingly boobs like I did with DS and just 'feel' pregnant. It's only our first month of ttc though and am now 37, so I'm sure we wouldn't be so lucky!

I do have experience of having a test be negative when I was pregnant, but the pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks so I'm afraid that isn't very encouraging for you. If you don't have a period in 5/7 days, test again. Good luck!

Give it a week. I had loads of BFNs before a BFP with DD. I was about 8 weeks pg by the time they registered.

My friend never got a BFP, she even tested at 7 months pregnant as she was curious and still BFN despite the massive bump!

Go with your instincts and keep trying!!

I only tested positive when my period was 8 days late! They even did a test and ultrasound at the gynaecologist when I was five days late and they didn't detect the pregnancy. DS is now nearly 3!
I would give it a few days.

I had a negative test 12 years ago, it was one of the expensive makes. Was a couple of days late, we had been trying for 5 months and I knew I was pregnant. I waited until the end of the week and did another one, dd is 12 in September. Although not sure if it makes a difference, when I went for my dating scan, I was put back a week, and the sonographer said it could be to do with me conceiving late in my cycle, so there were possibly less pregnancy hormones at the first test (just a theory of mine though).

I believe that the HCG levels begin to drop around the time that the placenta is fully formed, which would explain a BFN with a wriggly 7 mo foetus :)

A colleague was 10 days late before the tests admitted she was pg with one of hers. Fingers crossed for you.

I have heard the same as Minshu, which is why some women give birth without knowing they are pregnant. When they start to grow a bump, the tests come up negative.

Good luck OP with testing again, I'm sure a false negative is quite common, unlike a false positive.

Thanks all. I feel a bit more hopeful now. At least even if it is all in my head, it should keep me going until I can start symptom spotting again in a couple of weeks! Still can't shake the feeling that I think I might be though. My boobs definitely feel heavier and I'm sure they are changing in appearance - darker nipples, areola seems larger and have noticed a prominent blue vein on one breast. Though, I accept that it could be my imagination.

I'll test again in a few days time - or probably sooner, as I doubt I'll be able to wait! If going by when I thought I should have got AF, I would be on about day 4 or 5 of my cycle by now, although of course it is possible that what I hoped was implantation bleeding could have been an early, light period although it's never happened before. Here's hoping!

are you using them 'one step' i got bfns on them when i geot a bfp on one from poundland and frer!!!!!

Yes, the 'One Step' ones! I did get BFN on a different one though - 'Answer', but think I tested too early on that one anyway. Maybe I'll try a different brand. Thanks laalaap!

i used one step with the same urine i got a faint bfp!!! i dont think they work. if you live in the UK go to poundland and get first vue , if you get faints then go and get a first response early result. i have tested everyday from 10 dpo and i was 14dpo when i got my faint and 15dpo when i got my pink line on my frer this morning!!! your not out till af comes, good luck love :) xxx

How exciting, laalaap - congrats! I am in the UK, but no Poundland nearby, so will try a First Response or a Clearblue.

Hi ladies

I was convinced i was pg few weeks ago, all the symptoms, feeling sick, really sore breasts, constantly tired. BFN on 4th may. My AF came a day early on tuesday but has completely gone now so only lasted 2 days, is that normal?!

Last month it was 4 days, and ive had no cramping at all when i do normally have some pain.

Do you think i could be pg?! Im a bit scared to re test tbh as i fear i will be disappointed...

charleylarlie and BartBaby i understand completely what your going through. My AF is late by 5 days now but like bartbaby I dont want a disappointing negative again. I have ever symptom possible but that could all be in my head. Atm im wreaked in bed. Not like me at all.

I came off the pill at the start of last month. Then five days later had a three day bleed. 2 Clearblue and Five Vue tests have said negative but I just can help not believing them. Im leaving testing til friday week that way either af arriving between then will tell all.
