Ooh I didn't know that, I've just assumed that if I got a positive opk result then I'd ovulate. I think I have been because of slight cramping and ewcm matching the opks but I might give it another couple of cycles then start temping, which is probably sooner than I would have so thanks for the info Gilly

Haha yeah it's hard to get used to doing but basically my thermometer is right next to my phone on my bedside table... When my phone alarm goes off, I take my temp straight away and put it on the app on my phone. Sometimes I go back to sleep.. Sometimes I get up... No biggie!
It's quite common for your body to get an LH surge and gear up for ov but then not actually do it... Having a cold/flu, stress, nightshifts.. All these things can possibly delay ovulation so that's why I'm temping as well.

Was sure I ovulated on cd17 last month.. Positive OPK and all the usual signs... If I wasn't tempting I wouldn't have known otherwise but my temp stayed low and didn't actually rise til cd31 and I ended up having a 48 day cycle!

It needs to be one that can measure exact temps like 36.65, 36.69 etc....

Hello new people.

We are slowly moving into sex week, according to my APP. I've been temping since the beginning of this cycle (same idea as gilly, SMEP and temping,...but I seem to fail on both), however, it just doesn't "look" right. I know I'm weird, but really? It goes up and down all the time. It frequently drops between 0.5 and 1.0 degrees without me ovulating...and then it jumps back up...and back down.

I assume all you lovely ladies are taking your daily folic acid supplements?

I'm taking pregnacare conception and a 10mg b6 tablet (boots own box) every day....
Thought the extra b6 might help straighten out my cycles/luteal phase and 10mg is a really small amount extra (I think some women take 50-100mg!)

Plus there is already b6 in pregnacare but I just thought I'd have a little extra (doctor agreed it can only do me good!)

Morning all! CBFM has gone to high already... I'm either going to ovulate mega early this month or going to get days and days of highs - this is first month of trying for dc2 and its a whole different ballgame figuring out when to dtd with a 2 year old in the house (who never sleeps, argh!)

thatsofunny do you move around a lot in your sleep? I think temping is most accurate if you've been lying completely still for 3-4hrs before taking temp - easier said than done! Mine jumped around a lot but could sort of see a before/after pattern as was higher on average after ov, used monitor too though so that helped. This time round not even attempting to temp as never get 3-4hrs uninterrupted sleep!

Morning All - Haven't posted since my original post as I didn't really have any news to share ... But I am 90% sure I ov'd yesterday/Sunday horrible achey feeling on my right lower stomach sunday and yesterday and didn't sleep well at all on Sunday night and had a horrible achey back all day yesterday. All signs seem to of gone today. Since this is my first month without the implant not sure how long it should be from ov to AF so i'm going to go with the average and predict AF for 27/28th May (I think that's right if not please correct me) But if I am right ... I shouldn't even be here please don't kick me out i just started to get comfy

Managed to DTD on Sunday and this morning

I'm already in a really negative place, thinking "Oh I'm probably not even ovulating" eventhough I have no real proof of this. I am getting really down because I brought some cheapy OPKS and whilst I haven't been doing them religiously I have yet to get a positive out of one and it is making me

This and the fact that work is really full on (am a teacher) right now and I'm constantly knackered and so is DH (also a teacher) and a close friend is 4 months gone and positively glowing so everything just feels rubbish.

Snap me out of it ladies, I need a firm hand and a good telling off about my negative attitude.

somedizzywhoretry not to get all down about it, it's early days for you. If you can afford to splash the cash go for the pricier OPKs. I could never get a positive out of the cheapo ones and I have a degree in biochem! They may not be sensitive enough. I find great comfort in seeing a smiley face every month (I'm 39) even if I don't get a BFP. To quote a cliche: "it's a marathon not a sprint" and whilst some ladies may get a gold medal on the first lap, a good proportion of us are going to have to go round the track a few times! It's hard when you've got demanding jobs but just try to get to bed earlier and keep focussing on the end result. It will all be worth it.
