does anyone know what the likelihood of conceiving in the first month of trying is? I've seen figures for the chances of having got pregnant after 12 months but not month by month, if you see what I mean?

i'm asking because we have just started ttc this month and dp is totally convinced its going to work first time. we only managed to dtd twice during my fertile time (away with the in-laws) but he pretty much said "well, that's that done then!!"

I think its very sweet that he's so keen (and seems to have a complete lack of understanding about how babies are actually made!!) but I think he's going to be disappointed. he's usually a very logical person so I thought waving some facts and figures at him might help....

(sorry for massive post)

For any given ovulatory cycle, I believe the odds are around 20%, below are three websites stating this more or less. I hope you are able to let your dh down gently, or manage to be in the 20% would be even better!!!!

I found this, which might show him how lucky you would be to conceive in the first month
