Ovulation pain

Has anyone had it and what did it feel like?

Last night I got a sharp pain off-centre on my abdomen to the left side and have been wondering if it could have been ovulation pain? It felt a bit like a pulled muscle or a bruise but it was completely gone this morning.

It was higher up than I would have expected for ovulation pain, I know sometimes pain traces back up the nerves before presenting (but don't know if ovulation pain does this).

I've been on the pill from shortly after I hit puberty so I've never noticed ovulation pain before, would be handy if it was as now I know I need to DTD...

I get it every month. It builds up over a couple of days or so into a sort of generalised pain over one side. It's then gone, but leaves me feeling a bit sore. It's medical name is Mittelschmerz!

I found this for you: "The pain of ovulation can range from a mild twinge to severe discomfort and usually lasts from minutes to hours. It is generally felt on one side of the abdomen and may vary each month, depending on which ovary is releasing the egg during that cycle. In some cases, a small amount of vaginal bleeding or discharge may occur. Some women experience nausea, especially if the pain is severe.

As an egg develops in the ovary, it is surrounded by follicular fluid. During ovulation, the egg and the fluid, as well as some blood, are released from the ovary. While the exact cause of mittelschmerz is unknown, it is believed that the fluid or blood may irritate the lining of the abdominal cavity, causing pain. The pain goes away once the body absorbs the fluid or blood."

So what I had could possibly be ovulation pain? (although I think it unlikely, I'll wait another month and see if it happens again)

It would be super handy for TTC if it was. Thanks very much ladycelestial :o)

I usually have it, I get a dull ache always on my right side.

Before I had ds I got really really bad ovulation pain I had it all day until early nite time I was in agony! Ive never ever felt pain like this in my life!
