Hi all,
Feeling a little desperate as the months tick on... Can anyone let me know what the rules are re getting the doc to put you on clomid? Is it a case of blood tests for ovulation (one or two?), then hospital referral? I am guessing if that is the way it works it is several months before you get any? Many thanks for any thoughts.

I had it. I think you have to go to a specialist to be prescribed it and then you should be monitored with scans mid cycle to see how it is working.
What tests have you had so far?
Clomid worked for me on our second go and I now have a gorgeous 9 month old.

Hi, thanks. I'm nowhere yet, really. Just come off the pill a few months ago and unable to detect ovulation for three months. Have an appt booked with doc later this month. My worry is my age: 38. I really want my doc to refer me for clomid but not sure what barriers there are... thanks for your thoughts and congratulations on your baby.

Don't worry too much about ovulation sticks. My specialist told me to do them. I did them every day but never got a positive and that was the month I conceived my son so i must of ovulated. If you want to speed the process up can you afford to pay to go private? Once we knew there was an issue (had blood test done through my GP) we went private which made it a much quicker process.

It is two tests if I remember rightly it is one at the beginning of your cycle and one in the middle. They then compare the hormone levels so you need both. Once you have both of these done you go back to the doctors for the results. If you can push your doctor to do the blood test it will save you money at the specialist as you can just take your results with you. Also get your doctor to test your partner's sperm as that will need to be done before you have clomid to make sure the problem is with you.
