NO.

Cone biopsy can, b/c it's used to treat abnormal cells in the endocervical canal and this can lead to scarring which can act as a barrier to sperm, but not loop treatment.

you ok ?

Piccalilli · 12/05/2006 16:28

No, I've had it twice and was also categorically told by my consultant it has no impact on conception/pregnancy/childbirth - and I conceived dd first month of trying.

Thanks for replies, I had dd1 before treatment and only recently thinking about ttc and just wondered if would have any effect on chances seems i dont need to worry on that score, plenmty of other factors against us now, such as age, tired all the time ! and finding the right time ! :)

I had loop diathermy done less than 6 weeks ago and found out on Monday that I am pregnant! So... no, it doesn't affect your chances. The nurse told me that very recent research had indicated that there was a slightly increased risk of going into labout at around 37 / 38 weeks. But other than that, no problem.

Best of luck with TTC.

I had it done last year and am currently 18 weeks pregnant. No problems conceiving. I was also worried it might weaken my cervix but have been assured many times by midwife/GP/consultant that this should not be the case. Good luck!

Had loop diathermy and lots of other treatments for dodgy cells but also conceived first month of trying. Had really worried about it at the time, hope it all works out for you.
