Just got my AMH level results:

I just got the results of my AMH test from the nurse, it's 1.40 and the nurse wouldn't give me any feedback about it except to say that it's fine because it's over 1.0. I'm 38 and I want to know what this means for me. It really bothered me more that the nurse just kept saying its okay instead of giving me some details.

Hi - sorry I can't help as I don't understand that levels but am likely to be having this test later this month too so I am very interested in the responses you might get.

Did she/he tell you what the the 1.4 was (eg. p/ml) Have you googled it? Will you be speaking to your Dr to get an proper interpretation? Its very frustrating getting results over the phone when they don't understand what they are telling you!

As a matter of interest what time of the month did you have the test done?

So I guess I'm average for my age, but what does "average for my age" translate into while TTC?

I think those are US levels on that page, missing. They usually use a different test to UK drs, so I'm not sure how useful that scale is for folks over here.

I just had a google for UK rates and they are quite difficult to find, but I stumbled across this thread. From memory, the levels given there look similar to the ones my consultant gave me when I got my AMH result a year or so ago.

That explains the differences in numbers! I live in the US currently so that's why I have a lower number than the UK numbers.

Ah ok - so that is the right scale for you!

If it helps, you multiply the US reference result (say, 1.4) by 7.15 to get the UK reference result. So, OP's UK result is 10(ish).

I had mine tested in January and it came out at 1.8. I understand that it should ideally be at 8-10. I also had an antral follicle count done and it came back that I only had 2/3 on each ovary instead of the ideal 6-8. I'm 38 and the doctor I saw told me that the levels I'd come back with were closer to what they'd expect in a 42 year old. Loosely translated this means that I have fewer eggs left than is average and I don't have as much time as someone else of my age might have, although it's hard to say how long I do have. Having had all this done and gone to the doctor for a referral to the fertility/IVF specialist, OH has now decided that he's not ready for children just yet (angry/gutted/despairing/upset doesn't begin to describe how I feel at the moment) and I'm in a flat out panic. But I guess that's life.

If you can combine your AMH results with an antral follicle test it may give you a better idea. Either way I'd go to your doctor and explain the situation and see where that gets you. Mine was great about getting me a referral asap even though I now have the painful task of phoning and cancelling it. Good luck honey. x
