My best friend is about to start ICSI

BUT her FSH on day 19 was 19

Does anyone have any ideas why?

Does anyone have any ideas why is was low @ 3 several months ago?

She has just turned 40 years

Is it true that she could be starting menopause -- she was told something about pene menapause

Does that make any sense?

TIA

Will it have an effect on the number or quality of her eggs?

And how well they will grow?

fsh scores 'bounce' and one is categorised sadly by ones highest score.

My friend got pregnant naturally after 6 months trying with an fsh of mid twenties.

FSH numbers change every month - it's a real roller coaster ride if your treatment depends on a low number. The clinic I went to said it was a waste of time, energy, drugs and money to treat anyone with an FSH of 15 or over....and they said many clinics would not treat anyone with a number over 12. Would advise your friend to have a chat with her doctor and see if she would be better off to delay treatment until a month when she has a lower FSH.

BTW, I had my treatment 3 years ago, so it's possible things have changed since then. Best of luck.

She is only allowed one NHS cycle

It has been delayed cos they have to have a day conselling course before they start

so it will be next month anyway

So do you know why it goes up and down so much?

They are going to treat her but give her higher dose of drugs

IIRC

Thanks for your help Smile
