The same day I'm going for my first appointment with fertility specialist to find out why we are failing so miserably.
Has made me selfishly feel marginally worse.

I would probably feel the same but try and see the positives...

Your friend is having a baby! That's exciting Smile

And you are taking the next step in your ttc journey! Good luck!!! Xx

I know.
I suppose it just seems ironic.

As someone who had a lot of fertility treatment ( and a lovely baby at the end of it) I feel for you OP. No matter how you try to feel happy for your friend this is really hard for you. I hope you have people who can support you through this mixture of emotions. Also by starting fertility investigations you are taking a positive step and hopefully there won't be too big an age gap between your friends LO and your own. Good luck, both for coping with your friends news, and with the continuation of your ttc journey

I'm glad you got your baby sweetpeas :-)

No one irl knows we are going for fertility investigations. I've been reluctant to tell anyone. The only person I might tell is my mom but she doesn't want me to have any more babies (just got ds at the moment) so it's a bit difficult. She would be quite relieved if it turned out I couldn't have anymore children.

This is my friend's second baby. Our first children are quite close together.

I think it doesn't help that she keeps saying 'have another baby! Then they can be friend's like our first dc' when I've actually been trying for over twice as long as she's been pregnant. She got oregnsnt easily both times. I haven't wanted to tell her because I haven't wanted her to feel awkward about being pregnant or having the baby. I've just told her we are only having one dc for the foreseeable future.
