As the title says. It's not possible to get pg from sex 5 days before OV is it? Or very very rare?

If you had unprotected sex, then of course it is possible to get pregnant.

Well we aren't ttc till May but we aren't using protection now, just stopping dtd around 5 days before I'm due to OV. (It would be ok if it did happen but we settled on ttc from May.)

I know it was a random question but we have dtd 5 days before OV for the last few months and I've never got pg so wondered if it was even possible. I don't know of anyone it's happened too either.

Sperm can live in the body for up to 1 week- the female body captures the sperm, keeps it in suspended animation until ovulation, then lets the sperm go to do its job when the time is right. So as a form of contraception what you are doing is not reliable. Also, how do you know you won't randomly ovulate early one month??

Thanks Gin. I usually OV around cd 16/17. If I do OV earlier its ok if it happens. I was on BC but have come off it ready for us ttc so it's not a huge issue :)
