shedding light on my blood test results...

We (me 31, he 32) have been TTC since Dec 2011 with nothing to show for it; GP sent me for day 21 blood test and DH for SA just before Christmas; both were normal and he's referred us now to fertility clinic. We have an appointment booked at end of April and they asked us to get various other tests done to bring along. I have all the results now and although they are all within the lab's normal range, I'm a bit worried about some things ... actually not worried (I'm very much what will be will be and understand there can be cycle-to-cycle variation) more confused, especially the relationships between them which is hard to google, esp with the USA using different units for some!! So if anyone can shed any light on them please share :-)

"Day 2" tests (actually day 4 of cycle):
FSH 9.4 iu/L (upper end of normal is 10.2 for this lab so seems highish)
LH 4.6 iu/L
Estradiol 338 pmol/L (follicular phase normal is 75-530 - this seems high at the high end from what I've googled)
Oh and I don't have chlamydia (yay) and have rubella antibodies...

"Day 21" tests (was probably day 20; I had positive OPK on 10th Dec and these tests were done 17th)
FSH 2.4
LH 3.4
Estradiol 467 pmol/L
TSH 2.1 mu/L
A whole other barrage of things (not directly related to fertility) that all say normal on the sheet.

Just for completeness DH numbers were
volume 4.5ml, count 220mil/ml (DH very proud of his (almost) 1 billion sperms, he keeps saying after DTD things like "Hm that felt like about 700million..."), motility 34%, morphology 11%, MAR test negative.

Your day 2 tests seem okay but I do not see any sign of progesterone being measured for day 21 (FSH and LH levels are usually only measured at the beginning of the cycle as they kickstart the ovulation process).

Your DH will certainly need to be tested again as one semen analysis is not fully conclusive.

I wish you the very best of luck. You both should attend the initial appt at the clinic together as such appts can and do cause considerable nerves and moral support is vitally important. Would also suggest you write down any questions you would like answered well ahead of time as you do not want to leave there thinking, "oh I should have asked about xyz etc". No question is daft.

Ask questions of them, it is vitally important too that the three of you can work as a team.

If tests are arranged do ensure you fully understand why they are being done; sounds obvious I know but some people get told they're going to have x test and do not know why that is.

It looks like they sent you for the wrong test on day 21. It is usually progesterone levels that are tested at that point in the cycle, to see whether you have ovulated.

Oops no that was my fault I forgot to add day 21 progesterone in! It was definitely over 30, can't remember exactly what.

attila do you think the consultant will send DH off for another SA or we should get it done before? I'm just wondering if they'll proceed 'as normal' without it or we'll be wasting time ... I guess they would've asked for two tests if it was vital to have them at the first appointment.
Anyway enough overthinking. Roll on April!! We've both got the day off work and I will definitely be taking a notebook. Thanks again for the reassurance!

Hi..I’m a bit confused by my blood results..in particular the oestradiol level..seems a bit high at 550? This was my day 21 test..
I had chemo for breast cancer a few years ago and hoping my ovaries aren’t going to cause me difficulties!!
