...but I have always wanted another and after years of suppressing the feelings, came clean with dh and he has [fairly happily] said we should ttc.

It's so very exciting as I feel like it will be first time round again with the gap so big and my dc quite dependent. But scary too....i'm so much older now, and what if there are complications and miscarriage etc.

First time round i conceived 2nd cycle, 2nd time round it was first cycle. Have an appointment next week to get coil out and have started taking folic acid.

There.

Just wanted to 'tell' someone!

Have to ask - how old is "much older" cos if you say under 36 I shall feel old myself Grin
Good luck - my gran had 6 kids over 22 years from 24 to 46 (my mum was her 3rd) and don't think it was anything other than planned.

You'll also have 2 helpers/babysitters/teamakers on hand which must surely be a good thing!

Finally I am 9 years older than DSis (2 brothers in between us) and we have a great friendship, was a bit maternal til she got to her twenties, but is fab now.

Ooh it's a great idea to go for dc3! I've just had dd age 8 weeks. My two DS are 8.5 and 5.5 so really similar ages to yours. they adore her and she's slotted right in to our family.

aw, thank you. Am just about 35. Blush But was in 20s with other two and realise it gets harder to conceive as you get older.... just trying to protect myself a bit from disappointment...

I had my 3rd at age 38 with an 8 year age gap. It's been great fun, the older ones are delightful with DD3. It took longer to get pg, but actually that was a really enjoyable time in my life Smile - good luck.

I can't relate as I'm 26 as TTC number 1... Haha...

However, my mum had me when she was 37... My sister is 7 years older than me and my brother is 10 years older than me.

She has always said she made the decision at 37 (with a 10 year old and a 7 year old already) that she wanted more... In all honesty my dad probably wasn't that fussed (lol) but they dtd and had me!

Love my brother and sister so much and they obviously love me! Their littlest sister! I've never felt like my mum is too old or even really much older than other people's parents.
Mum has actually said to me before that she is SO happy she decided to have one more and I'm pretty sure I'm the favourite LOL!

Go for it.. You won't regret it! See what happens.. There can be complications at any age but you're definitely not OLD or TOO OLD or anything like that! Some people have their 1st at your age or older!

Good luck! X

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.... Lovely to read and to add in to the big melting pot of thought as I mull everything over... We have passed on cot, high chair, car seat etc.... Really will feel like we are starting out anew. Nice to be able to chat about it with you all. Thank you. X

Oh Ttcnumero3 I am in a kind of similar situation!! Mine are 10 and 7 and we too have gotten rid of all the baby stuff (except the moses basket, couldn't part with that!!) and we are considering number 3!
Until now we have not considered it because we had health scare with DS and it scared the bejesus out of us and that was enough to put us off for a good few years and then practical stuff like work, house too small etc.....but....circumstances have just changed in terms of house etc and I would be able to work PT....but...now I am worried re age(37) and also pushing my luck.
It is lovely to hear people who have a big age gap say such positive things and I think my two would be thrilled, I just feel a bit scared...it would be like going back to the beginning!! One minute it feels really exciting, the next, utterly terrifying!

Ha! My DC are 13 and almost 12 and DH and I are TTC :o

One minute I'm thinking it'll be lovely. The next minute I'm thinking "WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING, YOU CRAZY WOMAN?!"

I'm 35, btw.
