Are you more likely to get pregnant if you try before a +opk?

I sometimes wonder if it's too late after the positive opk!
First positive opk today, due to ovulate Friday. Dtd Monday night and this morning.

Have you actually got more chance of pregnancy if you try before the stick goes positive? I seem to get more cm before a positive opk. I usually get positive opks for two days before they turn negative.

Ttc for 18 months and giving up hope. Don't have an optimistic feeling at all.

hello there,

although this is my first post here I needed to say something!!

You always have to be optimistic!

I personally think before opk is better than after, I conceived twice dtd before ovulation.

Good luck and keep saying it will happen! (positive energy!)

Good luck x

From all I've read, you are most fertile on the day(s) oyu get a +opk and for a day or 2 before that. You are also more likely to conceive if you dtd on the days you have fertile cm. I've also read that dtd 2 days before ov is more likely to result in pregnancy that 1 day before. Hth.

Both my children were conceived around cd8 with ov at cd12, guess my ancient tubes took longer to navigate. Wink

Always seemed optimistic to me - firing off the lads on ov day not knowing how long the journey would take - but knowing wl that the egg would disappear in a puff of fairy dust in ooooh about 25 mins. Wink

Hello whatsdone

Sorry it is taking a long time...

I conceived DS1 easily. However, with trying for DC2 I decided to try the CBFM depsite knowing it might not work with PCOS. So as it was meant to be so accurate we waited for the sign each month. We wasted 6 months before I realised that it (the CBFM) wasn't working for me (ie it wasn't picking up the spike/spike at the wrong time) and very limited DTD.

So switched back to OPK and DTD every night for 1. 5 weeks over the fertile time (indicated by OPK & previous cycle knowlege )and fell with DC2.

I had read Zita West's book and she suggests DTD every other day around the fertile period, so defintely before the OPK. You want a good supply of sperm "up there" ready for the egg.

Have you been to the Doctor's?

Good luck with it all.

yes as sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days. good luck!
