PCOS but not typical??? Anyone know what that means?

Hi all,
A while ago I wet to the Drs as I had'nt had a period for 6 months. I had always been irregular but had always had a period every 35 - 50 days. I had a blood test and I was sent for an ultrasound, which picked up that my overies were enlarged, and showed signs of PCOS. Going back to my Drs, he said that all my blood word was normal..no imbalance, testosterone levels normal etc...but ultrasound showed PCOS. The diagnosis was PCOS but not typical!
So im not too sure what does that means? I have no other symptoms that go with it, and I am quite slim. Since then I have been refered to the fertility clinic as me and my husband are trying for a baby. I have had rounds of clomid but no joy. My periods are also verry illusive, like iv had only 3 last year, and my longest gap was 8 months between them!
Does anyone else have this diagnosis, or can shed some light for me? My GP doesnt seem too helpful and the medical 'professions' seem to think that I should know already!

Hi, I have PCOS but I guess I'm not typical - I have cysts/follicles on my ovaries, they're enlarged, but I'm slim and not particularly hairy. I've heard it's called lean or thin PCOS. Anyway I've googled this lots and lots! One thing I kept reading was to try a low GI diet and exercise, I tried this even though I don't have the IR type of PCOS (weight problem). I'm also on clomid and doing acupuncture, and am really hoping I ovulated today on it for the first time! Do you know if you ever ovulate? How much clomid did you try and were you monitored on it? For me, I do the lifestyle stuff in case it makes a difference (my periods haven't been as crazy since I started doing it) and I'm just trying to do anything I can to get myself ovulating as I THINK that's why I'm not getting pregnant. Hope this helps, just wanted to share my story in case it does!

I took 2 rounds of clomid then we took the decision to stop as my husband lost his job. Taking into consideration how we would fund our child if we conceved I thought this was the right decision at the time. That was a year ago now ad now things are better for us, I am considerig going back to the clinic as they said I could and restart the prgramme. When I took the first found, I had a blood test to check for ovulation and it turned out I did.
I have just found out that one of my cousins has the same problem, and she read somewhere that soya can have an impact in conception. She stopped eating it and has since had 2 boys! Me being vegetarian, and soya being a big part of my died, I am wandering if this is havig somethng to do with my periods getting fewer and further between.

I'm a vegetarian too - sure that's just coincidence as meat eaters get PCOS too! I read things about soya - but conflicting. Some people say soy isoflavones (tablets) are nature's clomid and swear by them, but then I saw some sites which said less positive things. You could try cutting it out? I use toasted sesame oil in it's place for stir frys etc. Good luck if you do decide to try clomid again. Really hoping that, combined with acupuncture and a no refined sugar diet, will work for me
