Hi - long-time lurker, first time poster :)

We have very recently (read: yesterday!) decided to start TTC but there are no patterns to my cycles whatsoever. I'm supposed to be due my period around the 25th of every month but I have PCOS, so it can be anywhere up to a 60 day cycle! In the last few months, my cycles are either on the 25th-ish (sometimes bang-on, sometimes up to ten days after) or I have really long 65 day cycles.

For example, my last period was on the 1st February, before this it was the 25th December. Last night was our first official try (yay!). Normally, before my period is due, my hormones are so out of wack that I get the symptoms of a period for a good week or so in advance (cramping, headaches, spots, nympho), but so far this month, I've had nothing.

Would I be trying in vain this cycle or could it be possible? Am not particularly hopeful due to PCOS (and am aware that this could take a while and even some help), but I've heard that miracles do happen.

Thank you in advance :)

Definatley possible I would think! It must be a nightmare for you trying to understand whats going on. Have you been offered any help or have you got to try for a while first? Not sure if it will help but I have read a few posts by a natural fertility expert that I thnk are quite good, one is about recognising your bodies signs for fertility. It may be worth a read but obviously I am not sure if it wuld be the same or if the PCOS would change what is happening? May be worth a look or dropping her an email, hope it helps anyway. I will put link to the post I am talking about at the end. Good luck, keep smiling!!! forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537

Thanks for the link wrighty! My GP said to try for a couple of months, but my periods have been so all over the place for so long that she thinks I'll need help. Whilst my periods haven't been great the past few months, they've been better than usual. Thank you very much!!

Bartlet - you might want to look into Vitex, a natural herb which is supposed to reduce cycle length. Not sure if works with PCOS though, but might be worth investigating.
