Clomid first cycle - scan result, dtd or not?!

Hi, I've just had my scan on CD13 of my first cycle on clomid and they said they can only see one larger follie but it looks too small for ovulation (I have PCOS so they saw loads of tiny ones). They're getting me back on CD18 for another scan to check for late ov but it's not looking good.

Has anyone had a bad ultrasound scan result and still ovulated? Do I give up on this cycle or keep on dtd?!

I'd always keep on DTD anyway, you never know, they could be wrong. Will you have a progesterone test? x

Thanks soph I don't think so, I think they just keep scanning at my hospital? I'm just so gutted that it hasn't worked, had all my hopes on it! They said they might increase my dose but I've heard sometimes you need a couple of go's at 50mg before it works? They also said something about injections.

I suppose I should keep dtd but with my head like it is at the moment, my heart isn't in it!

Keep going alex it must be hard seeing those scans but you never know. An egg might still pop. Treat yourself to some wine or do something together with DH that will help to get into the mood.

Definitely keep dtd. I'd suggest every other day until a day or two after you are sure you have ovulated!

I had a scan on day 10 of third clomid cycle after two unsuccessful cycles (progesterone levels said I had ovulated). At day 10 I had one small follicle and told clomid probably didn't work after all as blood test does not 100% confirm ovulation if results boarderline. Went back day 16 and one had grown to 14mm! Had another scan day 19 and showed it was big enough for me to have the hcg trigger shot to make sure it released. I'm now in the 2ww! So don't loose hope yet

Maybe there is still a chance! I guess they wouldn't have asked me back on Monday to scan me again on day 18 if I was def 'out' this month? Really hoping Cd13 is too early to tell for sure.

leopard that's amazing, huge congrats! Did you stay on 50mg for all three cycles? Also why did they give you a trigger shot and not wait for it to release naturally and is that something I should ask for? Also were you ovulating before clomid?

Hi alex. I have quite severe pcos and wasn't ovulating before hence the clomid. I have stayed on 50mg as it's working, even though no bfp yet. I think the trigger shot is to just give that final push & make sure the egg releases. I've only had it this month (first two cycles I wasn't scanned, just day 21 bloods cycle 1). Only time will tell if it works. Fingers crossed! Having timed dtd is turning out to be very stressful but it's all for the greater good
