Our new home, hope we will all be very unhappy here and leave soon ;-)

Pip, remember though, my cycles are often short, so cycle 19 for me has probably come around a fair bit quicker! We started officially TTC Autumn 2011, although we weren't exactly 'thorough' with contraception since we married earlier that year. Didn't go to doctor until August 2012 and then it's just been rumbling on since then.

Boodle9 · 27/02/2013 21:41

Bunny Grin! I'm imagining you like a little child learning to read. "Suh..Eh..Cks...Miiiissss, what's "suh...suh...sex?"

Pipbin · 27/02/2013 21:43

Oh Haycorn, not to worry you but being on the pill can mask problems. Given that so many of us spend so many years on the pill we can forget what our normal cycles are.
I found that mine took about 3 cycles to get back to normal. If it was me, knowing what I know now, I would go to the doctor about it. If you are lucky then they might test for stuff, if not then they will know that you are trying and that will be flagged up.

happylass · 27/02/2013 21:56

Welcome Haycorn . My gosh there's been a lot of activity on here this evening! Just scanned through so hope I haven't missed anything major!
Just gearing up for shag week again here. Who's with me? Lovely DP has agreed to get up at silly o'clock on Saturday to go away so that we can DTD Friday eve (he did also suggest DTD when he gets up at 5am Saturday 'just to be sure' - sod that!!)

haycorn · 27/02/2013 21:56

Thanks Pipbin. I have been thinking about going to the doctor, but have been worried they would just tell me to go away and come back after a year. Think maybe I need to man up and get it done. I hate the not knowing, the feeling really (pathetically) proud of us when we get a sexed-up month and then worrying that it was all for nothing if my body isn't working anyway. Not that the sex is nothing obviously, I just might not be requesting it quite so often if I didn't have an ulterior motive Wink

Soph80 · 27/02/2013 22:01

Pipbin I think you might be right about 'needing to do something'. I think I might focus more on yoga and spa days though

Boodle come to think about it, I resent my CBFM every time I open the drawer too. Maybe I'll stick it on ebay.

Soph80 · 27/02/2013 22:04

Haycorn hello and welcome! . I'm afraid your GP will prob send you away until you've been TTC for a year unless you fib about how long you've been trying for. You might be able to just do the basics, e.g 21 day progesterone test, thyroid function test, etc

Pipbin · 27/02/2013 22:10

Even if the gp does send you away Haycorn, it'll be in the system that you are trying.

Can we all decide that eating lots of chocolate is a sure fire way to get updiffed. What we need is one of our graduate elderberries to comeback and tell us that they filled their faces.

Soph80 · 27/02/2013 22:19

Well I had pate on toast for tea as DH didn't bother to get tea ready, as planned. I figured since this is my last month for eating pate for 9 months I may as well make the post of it as I will get pregnant this month FACT!!!!

Bunnygirlie · 27/02/2013 22:28

happy heading towards (trying to) shag week here too. Gone try for tues thurs and once/twice at weekend if hubby up for it. He has jizz test on CD12 so he has to avoid sex 2 days prior so we shall see what happens!

OP posts:
barkingtreefrog · 27/02/2013 22:28

I'm definitely on the 'needing to do something' side. I started with the pregnacare vitamins, then gave up alcohol, then started recording cycles and watching cm, then temping, then cbfm, plus lots of useless internet research along the way, and the next thing for me was to go to the gp. Took two months from the first GP visit after ttc for a year until the referral to the clinic this week post blood tests/SA. Now I'm a few weeks behind Boodle in waiting for my appointment letter to come through!
Although the expense of all the sticks I'm using is worrying me a little at the moment, I will continue with the CBFM until I get to the fertility clinic in the interests of amassing evidence of my stupid, short LP.

I've now decided conclusively that giving up alcohol had no positive benefit whatsoever and am intending to fall spectacularly off the wagon this weekend (being safely ages away from O and the 2ww).

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/02/2013 22:31

Oh ffs just wrote a post and lost it (or posted it elsewhere in which case MNers now think im weird)
Anyways hey to haycorn. What happened to our other newbies, did we scare them off? qazxc (is that the right letters on the keyboard??) and sloane come back!
Soph don't know how i gave you the impression it was my first OPK ever! It's just the first one this month. Last month my OPK's sneakily tricket me (getting darker, then light, then wham a positive out of nowhere) so I am keeping a very close eye on them this month so they can't play any tricks
Happy i'm in shagweek too! (Just what i've always wanted... a shagweek buddy!) This means we can TWW stress together (ie. I can pee on sticks every day and you can laugh at my stupidity to pass the time). Although we are at the in laws babysitting on Fri eve and that strikes Friday out (the 'babies' are big enough to hear activity through the walls. So i'm planning on jumping DH early Fri afternoon before we leave and first thing Sat morn when we get home!!!

Rache1S · 27/02/2013 22:31

That'll be me then Pip. Grin Blush I have always been a chocolate fiend. And cake. And Haribo. In fact anything with more calories per 100g than stars in the universe and I'm on it and TTC was no exception and I also didn't cut down on booze at all. I firmly believe that filling your face with stuff you like is good for your mental well-being which in turn is a good place to be when TTC. Smile

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/02/2013 22:34

Oh and on CBFM I have no idea how they are different to an OPK except for giving you a pretty face and 'predicting your cycle' [ignoramus emoticon]. In which case, despite the fact I love spending money on sticks of any kind I woud say it sounds like a rip off to me. My OPK's are even cheaper than my preg tests (gotta love amazon cheapies) and seem to work very well... although do need to do it twice a day close to the time but think that's because I have a short surge

Boodle9 · 27/02/2013 22:35

Barking - I am (was?) just like you on the 'needing to do something' side of things. I've chilled my beans a bit now, but last year was just madness: OPKs, CBFM, several different vitamin combinations, conceive plus, raspberry leaf tea, grapefruit juice, robitussin, shoulder stands...think I'm a bit of a control freak and TTC is just horrendous - no real control at all!

I'm planning alcohol this Friday - not much of a drinker but I'll be home alone so it'll be wine and TV! (The Last Leg as it so happens!) CAN'T WAIT!

SidneyBristow · 27/02/2013 22:38

Hiya haycorn! Welcome to the luckiest thread around! (A bit of positive thinking over here!) if seeing your gp would help you feel more confident about things, then by all means make an appointment! I've felt happier about it all, after discussing it with my new gp last month. She's set me up for all the prelim blood tests, and DH for a sperm analysis, so although nothing. Dry exciting has come from it so far, it has made me feel a little more in charge. This whole tic thing is so stressful, anything that makes it less so has got to be someone worth trying. Even crystals under the bed! Grin I wonder if my house needs a good smudging? Hmm

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/02/2013 22:42

Oh FFS I will leave now before I achieve any more fuck ups

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/02/2013 22:45

I'm back... couldn't resist, was overly intrigued by Sidney's "nothing. Dry exciting" and her house smudging (wtf is that??) Grin
To be fair Sid nothing dry exciting ever happens to me either

barkingtreefrog · 27/02/2013 22:46

Might have to research opks instead of the cbfm once I've got through this box of sticks then merkin!

boodle forgot about the preseed, been trying that as well.... That might be the only thing worth the expense really!

Hello Haycorn, apologies for not waving at you earlier, I'm hopeless at reading all the posts I've missed then remembering what I wanted to say which never seems to stop me waffling

happylass · 27/02/2013 22:50

Yey at getting 2 shag week buddies. Cd 8 here and usually OV on cd 11/12 so need to get to it. Had planned to start last night but both fell asleep - useless! Boodle did the Robitussin make any difference? Bought some today which goes against all my principles of not taking medicine unless absolutely necessary but I'm getting desperate!

ILoveMyCats · 27/02/2013 22:54

Evening! Phew - what a lot of posts to catch up on! I leave the sofa for the day....
soph, I'm not convinced by the accupuncture either, but feel as though I'm doing all I can for the moment, as we've been trying since September, and my GP flat refused to investigate my long cycles unless I don't have a period for 6 months. Well, the way I'm going, it could happen! I've heard that accupuncture can regulate this, but it's been a week since I went and no af. Would like to chart & got a cbfm at Xmas ready for this cycle, but haven't had a day 1 yet and don't think it would be worth charting, as I wouldn't see any patterns, would I?
Enough me, me, me! Welcome haycorn! Sounds like you're in a similar boat to me. Do try the GP, though. Yours might be more helpful than mine. I'm waiting for thyroid test to come back. At least she did that for me. Time to swap slanket for bed. Night night berries.

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/02/2013 22:55

60 OPKs for a tenner here

Is Robitussin the cough medicine?

CD11 for me, expecting O between CD15 and CD18

Boodle9 · 27/02/2013 22:58

Happy, I'm the same with medicine - the only thing I ever take is painkillers during AF, and those are absolutely necessary! For me, I didn't notice a difference with the Robitussin; maybe didn't give it enough of a chance, but just couldn't be bothered with the faff. Have also tried evening primrose oil to increase CM on several occasions, but not a lot of joy there either.

Mother, I have a question for you that I hope you don't mind me asking; do you have a plan of action with the progesterone cream? I presume you are going to keep using it for a while?
