Just wanted to add that while it scares the shit out of me, the idea that it may help us have a child will make me persist with it. I can't bear the thought of my son being alone without any family around him when he's older (sorry to sound so depressing).

Tumtimes1 · 23/05/2013 13:31

Ah ok - very interesting. I will bear that in mind as I used to have a heart condition (wolf parkinson white). Dr S knows about this but I will keep an eye on this too. I also went to my GP and she is ok with me taking the Pred xx It is a worry isn't it, but like you say, the end result of a baby means we persist xxxx

Clabbage · 23/05/2013 14:00

Just checking in and really pleased to see your news mollie. I think measuring right for dates is such a good sign.
Also looking forward to abney's news! Hope everybody newly on

Clabbage · 23/05/2013 14:15

Oops..hit the wrong button!

Hope everyone newly on pred is doing ok.
I'll be honest, I'm not surprised by Mr S's behaviour but am really sorry you had to go through that. I just feel that whilst we all appear to be fighters and strong women, we inevitability could do with handling with care.
I am both thrilled and petrified to find myself pregnant again. About 4w 5d. I am trying a different tack this time by declaring myself pregnant on here as opposed to announcing a mc. I guess it may well turn out that I do both but PMA PMA. I am on pred, cyclogest, high dose folic acid, vit D, aspirin and will go on to clexane if hb seen. Could this in fact be lucky no 7 since having my DS??? All of my care will come from my NHS consultant. My last appt (a while ago now) with Mr S made me sure I didn't like his brand of tlc!
For those who don't know my history,; I lost my first son, Harry, as a cot death, eighteen years ago (can't quite believe that!). I am blessed with children but have had 8 mc's. The last 3 have all seen hbs but measured behind and then no hb a week later (about 9w by dates). All natural mcs. Oh and I'm 41. And...is it unforgivable that I haven't told my OH yet?

Clabbage · 23/05/2013 14:16

Ha...that sounds like I haven't told him I'm 41!

duggs1976 · 23/05/2013 14:32

Whispered congrats clabbage! Here's hoping for a smooth ride for you. Grin

Clabbage · 23/05/2013 14:42

Thanks duggs. Forgive me for sounding stalker like but have read so much of your journey on here and seen some of the super ov thread..I so hope it's your turn soon x

Arianrhod · 23/05/2013 15:01

clabbage And more whispered congrats from me - so hope this is lucky number 7 for you! Grin that you haven't told your DH yet, I confess I've announced BFPs on here before I've told OH too :) Lovely though our OHs are, I still don't think they quite understand the full head-feck extent of this whole process, whereas all on here do!

duggs1976 · 23/05/2013 15:06

Thanks clabbage. Yes so dull still in same place Hmm oh well at least we have each other in this virtual world!

Tumtimes1 · 23/05/2013 15:38

Hi clabbage that is ace news and loving the PMA! I will be cheering you on xxxxx

Bakingtins · 23/05/2013 16:38

Hi everyone. I'm probably an imposter as I'm not pregnant or TTC but have just had MC no 4 diagnosed (no HB at scan at 7+4). I've had all the standard RMC tests after MC 3 and nothing found. This time I was on cyclogest, high dose folic acid and aspirin. I'm 38, I have 2 children, one MC in between them at 10 weeks, and 3 MC in the last 8 months all at the 8 week stage, though from the scan today it looks like maybe it is going wrong earlier and just taking a while to actually MC.
I don't know anything about NK cells etc, maybe someone could point me in the direction of some info or fill me in on the basics? We've already spent about £600 on testing without being any further forward and I'm not sure I have it in me to keep trying, but I can at least find out what the options are.

jass43 · 23/05/2013 20:55

Bakingtins, are your thyroid hormones in order? S sorry to hear of tour losses. Losses after heartbeat has been detected might be of a thyroid related nature. Worth checking out if you have not done so. Immunology losses are trickier to treat than thyroid issues, so I would start there. Turn to immunology search only after you have checked the thyroid, I suggest.

Me had a chemical this time around. Punishment for falling pg 3 weeks after mc no 9. I am not counting this chemical as mc, so am staying w 9 macs for time being. Off pred, without weaning, since been on it about for a week and oly 20mg.

Bakingtins · 23/05/2013 21:29

Hi Jass yes I've had routine blood count, day 2 FSH/ LH, ferritin, T4 + TSH, TORCH screen and swabs for infection, anti mullerian hormone, clotting and autoimmune panel, mid cycle scan, karyotyping for me and DH. Zilch.

I don't know how you keep going after 9/10. You are one brave lady.

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 23/05/2013 21:31

Sorry for your losses Bakingtins utterly heartbreaking for you.
It might be worth sitting down and reading some of the previous threads for information on high natural killer cells.
Essentially, there is a theory that some women's immune system attack their foetus. The cells doing the damage are called natural killer cells. If you have high or very high natural killer cells you could be treated for this with either an immune regulator or an immune suppresant plus an intravenous treatment to coat and protect the foetus. There is a test you can have to see if you have high natural killer cells.
The whole subject is fairly controversial. If I've made any mistakes here, hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along and correct me.

duggs1976 · 23/05/2013 21:54

And baking tins, because you already have children you are probably more likely to have nk issue as is common for immune system to kick in after previous pregnancies. Dr Gorgy or dr shehata, dr ndwuke, professor queenby all treat nk cells and probably many more these days. Dr Gorgy is quite extensive and hard core, dr ndwuke is now linked to zit a west so holistic and more natural. If just nk cells dr shehata comes recommended but not so much for anything more complex. Depends on where you live but here and fertility friends there is a tonne of info. Best of luck.

buzzybee123 · 23/05/2013 23:28

clabbage congrats and fingers crossed for lucky number 7

Bakingtins · 24/05/2013 07:18

Are all these Drs in London? I'm in the SW of England. Is there a blood test I can ask for? I am already seeing a consultant privately but she hasn't mentioned it. I have ordered " Coming to Term". Any other books about this stuff you'd recommend? I'll trawl prev threads later, thank you for replying.

duggs1976 · 24/05/2013 07:38

Dr beer is your body baby friendly. Dr Gorgy does the Chicago tests. Dr shehata is cheaper but he isn't as thorough or extensive. I've seen both. Dr s is ok if he's lucky enough for his patients to just need top line treatment. If it isn't working though he doesn't really seem to want to look further, however for £600 - £300 for initial consult and nk cells tests that is prob cheapest deal.
If you can afford it dr Gorgy is much more extensive and follows the full testing panel and will tell you much more about which nk cells, and other immunological, infection, sperm DNA fragmentation, matches and clashes with partner sperm etc. But as you have children already you prob don't need if same partner? I don't know dr ndwuke but he is linked to zit a west and yes have been to zita west too but v long waiting list.

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 24/05/2013 09:44

I don't know about the others but yes Mr Shehata is London based. I travel from the south of France to see him..

Tumtimes1 · 24/05/2013 10:07

Dr Gorgy is London too... x

ConeyIslandBaby · 24/05/2013 14:10

Hi All. I've not been on here for ages but have been lurking a bit, scared to post... but I'm 10 weeks pregnant! Just had a scan with Mr S, all is looking good. I'm off to the Fetal Med Centre next week for the harmony test and nuchal fold, so that's our next hurdle.

Mr Shehata said that I can relax now and begin to enjoy it. Easy for him to say! I'm tired, emotional (either crying or extremely irritable!) and can't help but keep my feelings in check as I'm so used to pregnancy going wrong (5 mc). It all seems a bit unreal at the moment. Hopefully after the nuchal fold etc I'll start to enjoy it more.

There was a discussion upthread about taking steroids and how they mess with your cycle; I gave up taking them from ov as they were really messing me up; couldn't sleep, late periods, then had a chemical pg, so stopped. I started taking it from bfp in this pg.

cartoontrickster · 24/05/2013 16:53

hi all. feeling slightly more relaxed by the day. I'm 6wks tomorrow and touch wood so far no spotting. I usually spot between weeks 5/6 only time I havent is when I had a blighted ovum. I'm defo feeling the nausea set in. its very mild at first like last time, its almost like I could be imagining it but today I'm sure I feel sick! it got worse as I got further along last time so we will see what this time brings! my scan is on Wednesday.
as always being on the more cautious side it is in my mind what are next step may be if this one doesn't work out. I see Mr s privately. ive only had 3 mcs total so the NHS wouldn't help. they now would and we have a appointment also on Wednesday. obviously what they do/would have done will change because I'm pregnant. I'm wondering how all this and the treatment with Mr s will work together. I briefly mentioned my nk cells to the NHS consultant who thought it was a load of crap as they can't test for cells in your womb. but ive gone ahead and put my self back on his treatment albeit with a slightly late start.
any advice as to what could be next?
is there a test I could have to check quality/number of eggs I have?
we fall pregnant fast but then mc.
would I be better changing from Mr s? I know I'm thinking ahead! sorry if these things have been mentioned upthread, I get a bit confused with all the different terminologys and only really know what Mr s tells me.
waves to all Smile

duggs1976 · 24/05/2013 17:08

Congrats Coney and cartoon! Interesting that most people seem to do better when taking pred from bfp!! Grin

cartoontrickster · 24/05/2013 17:14

strange is it duggs especially as Louise told me that ovulation was the most crucial time to take the pred.

ConeyIslandBaby · 24/05/2013 17:26

Hi Cartoon. My NHS consultant poo poohed NK Cells too, but so far its the only treatment that's got me past 6 weeks. If I'd taken the advice of the NHS guy I'd be recovering from surgery to remove a very small uterine septum now, risking scar tissue and delaying ttc. Mr S told me the surgery would be pointless, and after doing more research and being 10 wks pg currently, I believe him!

The standard recurrent miscarriage tests will include hormone tests which indicate your ovarian reserve (FSH I think it is called). Not sure about quality test though. Don't think NHS will do the tests while you're pregnant.
