What age were you and DP when you had your first baby? Or TTC for the first time??

I'm 31 and DP is 38 and we are trying for our first. Sometime DP talks along the lines of us leaving it too late...which obviously makes me anxious!

I was almost 38 when DS was born and DH was 39. He was a surprise. I had irregular periods and was 17 weeks before I found out!

I was 32 and dh was 36 was ds was born. We are now trying for number 2 and I'm almost 34 and dh is 38. He has said if I'm not pregnant by the time he's 40, he'll be too old, I'm hoping it won't take that long!

Dh & I were both 33, and 34 when ds was born. This time around we're both 40.

27 for DP, 28 for me TTC. 28 and 29 when DS1 who will be 1 in 2 weeks arrived.

I conceived at 39 and had DS at 40. All of my friends have had their children in their 30's so you are not too late by any chalk IMHO

We were 28 and 31 when DD1 was born- had been ttc for 2 years.

I'm 33 now and most of my school and uni friends are only just having their 1st.

Started trying 26 (me) 29 (DP), DS1 born 28 and 31.

DS2 started trying 30, born 30. Thought it would take longer second time round, as we were older and had taken a while first time. DS2 caught us slightly by surprise!

Gosh I think you have lots of time OP.

I was nearly 32 when ds1 was born and nearly 35 when ds3 was born. I was my first of my good friends (all the same age - we all turn 40 this year) to have babies. 3 of them have babies who have just turned 1.

We started ttc when he was 29 and I was 28, 5 years after we got married.

Dd1 born when we were both 29,
Ds born when we were both 31,
Dd2 born when I was 32 and he was 33.

Then he had the snip at 33!

TTC for the first time at 34. Got upduffed after 2 months. Currently 21 weeks and DD is expected a few months after I turn 35. DH is 33.

We were 31 (me) and 33 (Dh) when we started ttc. We will be 34 (me) and 36 (DH) when little one arrives. Glad we started when we did and hope and pray it doesn't take so long next time.

I was 27 and DH was 24 when we tried for our first. Conceived DD first cycle, a couple of weeks before our wedding.

We are now 29 and 26 and will start ttc DC2 in a couple of months. We know it will be harder as I'm still breastfeeding DD.

I think not leaving it too late is an important issue. I was terrified of that happening, especially if you want more than one. It's also men's fertility that declines with age. I read in Zita West's book that a man at 35 is only half as likely to upduff his partner within any given time than a man at 25. I never realised this about men. Always thought they are good to go til they are ancient...

With DC 1 - I was 31 when I had her. DH was 39.

With DC2 I was 34 when I had him. DH was 41.

Started to TTC when I was 34, he was 33. DS arrived 9 months later (I was very lucky) and now aged 36 I am trying to get my head around TTC the next one despite just being back to frantic job and having major building work on and having zero time for sex.

Main thing IMO about trying later is that it helps to be lucky with getting updiffed quickly, and if you want two, you kind of need to knock on with it even though that can be really challenging if you are returning to your career. Frankly, 35 plus for a first is vanilla and normal among most the people I know though - loads of my same aged friends haven't even started TTC yet. Maybe I know a lot of career-obsessed, youth-eking Londoners though.

DH was 23 and I was 25 when we had DS. (DH is a toyboy!)
29 and 31 when we had DD1
34 and 35 when we had DD2
After an unexpected pregnancy which ended in miscarriage last year made us realize how much we wanted another baby we decided to actively ttc.
I miscarried again twice last year ,most recently in Sept,so I know it may not happen for us ,we're now 44(45 at the weekend!) and 43.
I feel very young going to University things with DS, a bit older than some of the mums(though there are some older!) at the primary school gates waiting for DD2 and the same age as a lot of other parents at high school events with DD1.

I turned 42 two days after my son was born. Dh turned 41 two months later.
