PG tests

Hi,

This is perhaps a ridiculously stupid question but are there any preferred brands of PG test? More sensitive? Not too expensive?

There are so many in boots/super drug etc and then amazon with HUGE price differences?

My pre-conception, vitamin rattling, healthy eating, trying to increase exercise but sleepy brain is baffled?!?!

Reading above - perhaps the PG test is the least of my worries...

Hi, I conceived after 3yrs ttc and two rounds of IVF so I am familiar with thousands a few HPTs!

this might help.

I believe a few general points to keep in mind are:

Avoid the blue dye tests as they seem to have more problems with evaporation lines

The clearest ones are the digital ones but they are more expensive and less sensitive so it's only worth shelling out on these once you are a good 14 DPO

When I was POASing every day the most sensitive were First Response
Early Response as they are sensitive to 10miu. I think Superdrug own brand are meant to be the same sensitivity for nowhere near the FRER price.

I got my first and next several hundred bfp on FRER at 9 DPO but I was going POAS crazy on account of the IVF!

PS IIRC the digital ones are sensitive to 50 miu

PPS my knowledge is a bit out of date so I am sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me if I'm out of date on anything!

That's so helpful - only 4DPO (not actually with a test but relying on my phone app, so not really that reliable) but had stomach cramps all day which would be a bit early for period pain.

The whole thing has made me over react in prep for 14DPO

Also 2 people said I looked different today, ok well tired and a bit grumpy.

Agree with Ginshizz that the Superdrug ones are cheap and really sensitive - I bought the Superdrug non-digital ones because I saw them recommended on a mumsnet thread. I also bought some others just for fun.

I read the small print of the Superdrug ones and they are sensitive to 10mIU/mL (the digital clearblue ones with conception indicator are sensitive to 25mIU/mL - what a difference).

There is usually a Superdrug offer too so they can work out to about £2 each (see here). So you can have guilt-free POAS extravaganza!

I would also second the wariness with certain blue dye test. I've only ever had false positives on Boots tests where the positive is a +. Very disheartening .

I'm pregnant now, finally As someone who TTC'd for a long time, I just kept a stash of Internet cheapies like these to pee on without wasting a fiver each time! When I got two BFPs on those (albeit fuzzy) I bought a first response early response twin pack - decent pink dye tests with a really clear positive! Then two days later I cracked and bought a digital!

Super drug, morrisons, asda, sainsburys own brand - but pink dye, basic versions. They're all pretty much the same and quite sensitive these days. I like morrisons own, £3 for 2.
