Is a local anaesthetic safe while ttc?

Does anyone know? I have to have dental work that will involve a local anaesthetic - day 11 of my cycle (might ovulate that day/possibly day 12). Unclear whether it's safe at this (v early) stage - & just risk it - or whether to just delay the treatment until my next period? Any ideas? Many thanks!

I had one while actually pregnant so I can't see any problem. The only risk the anaesthetist mentioned was the adrenaline that would be caused by the procedure and as you wouldn't have a foetus at that point, it wouldn't apply to you.

Don't know for certain but have studied Human Biology in quite some depth and I can't think of a single reason why not. There might be a chance that the trauma (depending on how you psychologically find dental work) might slightly delay ovulation for you, but if you do get pg shortly after the fertilised egg won't share a blood supply with you until 4-5 weeks so really don't worry.

Thank you both - it is just that my dentist recommended ttc until after the treatment hence small concern. Have also noticed some concerns mentioned on-line (ahem) but perhaps completely irrelevant to me? (since so early in cycle.)

Given how you describe your cycle, you won't be pregnant when you have i done. You won't have ovulated. And after ovulation, the egg has to travel to the womb, where it might get fertilised. It won't implant until 7-10 days later, so until about day 20 or so of your cycle, the egg will just be floating around in you, not attached. And anyway, as others have mentioned, locals are safe. I am in the middle of IVF treatment and about ot have a consultation about getting a cyst removed. I wanted it done before I started treatment ideally but the first consultant I met with was a twat and there was nowhere I was letting him near my face, so I will go ahead when pg, if by some change this cycle works.

That's full of typos, but hopefully it is understandable!

Thanks euro - really helpful - and huge good luck with this cycle!

You routinely get a local during egg collection (so basically equivalent to ovulation) when you have IVF. So sure it would be absolutely fine.
