Possible stupid question... ovulation sticks when to test.

Currently I'm on day 6 of my cycle. When should I start using the ovulation sticks? My last cycle I got a Smile face on day 17. Only the 1 Smile face for Jan.

Should I start now so that I have a clear chart for this cycle or should I wait until next week and start around the 10 day of my cycle?

I've brought 40 test so my plan was to use them twice a day. 2nd morning pee and 4pm ish.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated,

Farmer

I don't know the answer but am going to try and use them this month so joining in to find out if that's ok with you? FX for us both!

Do you have regular cycles? If yes, then it'll probably be OK to start using them around day 10 - I'm using internet cheapies, and that's what they recommend. I've got regular cycles, and it's working well for me. You might want to play around with testing days/times until you get a feel for you cycle...
The instructions of my tests say not to test before 10am, as the LH hormone is being made during the day - I only test in the evenings.

Thanks JB

My cycle is 30 days, last cycle was my first time using these sticks. I've just read the instructions and it suggests testing from day 6. Which as i had my Smile face on day 17 this seems a waste of sticks.

DH isn't home until the evenings so I might well test once he's home...Grin

farmer are you regular? also what is your cycle length?

The reason I ask is because I have a 32-34 day cycle and I usually OV on cd17. Sometimes on Cd14/15 but these are rare occasions. So to be on the safe side I start peeing from CD12 - CD19 (or till I see them turning negative) I use cheap OV sticks from Amazon.

Peeing schedule was normally afternoon on weekends (between 1pm - 3pm) and after 6pm - 8pm on weekdays. For optimum results, I always leave 4 hours between weeing and drinking water to get the most concentrated wee. So would drink last glass of water at lunch time around 1pm and then no liquids till I have POAS in the evenings.

I also note down the timings of my first positive OPK and last positive OPK to give me an idea if I picked up the LH surge on its way up or way down. So for example I'd get a dark positive OPK on Tuesday evening and a faint positive on Wed afternoon. which meant the surge was at its peak somewhere between in the evening to late night and on its way down in the morning. Not sure if this will work with OPKs that use smiley faces.

Agree with JB don't pee in the mornings as unlikely to detect the surge.
