Anyone else ttc with an OH who works away from home? Want to grumble with me?

As the title says really. We are ttc baby #3 but it's not going too well since dh works on the rigs and keeps missing my ov days!

I actually got my BFP on New Years Day after trying for 7 months, but sadly had a mc at 4+6. :(

December was freakishly lucky for us though, in that dh was home for the whole month, so we managed to dtd before, during and after ov Grin

But now he's back to 2 on, 2 off rotation. I'm ov today (smiley on opk) and he's not home until Friday. I feel really, really sad today and just wondered if anyone else was going through similar.

With my 2 children, he worked at home, and we got upduffed on the first try each time, so this is killing me!

I know how you feel my boyfriend is in the army and only get to try weekends unlesshe gets put on guard then the weekend don't happen an absolute pain.

Ash it`s so hard isn't it? I think the worst part for me is not even being able to try round ov because he's not home! Feels like such a waste every month.

Yeah I get totally fed up, it crushes him when tests come back negative as well but hey you've just gotta keep trying.

Hi weechops and ash - I know how you feel my DH works offshore 2 on 3 off and we've been TTC #1 for nearly 2.5 years. We are unexplained but hospital think its because DH works offshore - although in all that time he has been here many times at ovulation. Seems like our only route is private IVF I've been trying to pluck up the courage to phone the clinic for our first consultation but I am struggling to accept that it's come to this and can't make the call. I am very down about it and have been for a long time now. weechops so sorry about your mc - how are you feeling? I really hope you both get a BFP soon - best of luck.Smile

Hi i am in the same position Dp is away every Sunday to Friday TTC #2 we have been trying for nearly 4 years now, I hope you ladies have more success than me.

griff I'm ok thanks for asking. I feel a bit daft grumbling about how hard it is when you and forty have been trying for so much longer.

It's not admitting defeat you know to get a bit of help along the way. It's just another way of ttc :) And you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with, just talking is a great place to start.

A friend of mine had tried for nearly 3 years and nothing happened. As soon as she and her dh were going to actually start the ivf, she fell pregnant naturally. Then less than 2 years later they had another one naturally. She said at the time when she called the clinic she felt like a weight had been lifted, and she wasn't dealing with it all herself any more. (well her dh too, but you know what I mean :) )

My dh was due home friday but due to weather, looks like saturday at the earliest. Definitely out for this month then. Ah well.
