Hi ladies,
I hope I'm posting in the correct section but could really do with your wisdom please. I'm TTC baby # 2. Conceived the first one in a month but a year on still no whiff of a BFP for the second.
My cycles are roughly between 23 to 25 days long and this cycle I ovulated on CD17 making my luteal phase 6-7 days!! I had the cd 3 and cd 21 tests done and according to the doctors receptionist they all came back 'normal'. (I have a proper appointment with the doc on Monday)
What I wanted to know is has anyone had this issue? What was the outcome? What could this be? Also if you were referred to a specialist how long did it take?

Thanks so much for reading ladies and really hope you can help.

Maz

Hi Maz,

Has your man been tested at all to date?. If not I'd be asking them why.

They have already done blood tests on you but secondary subfertility (as this would be described) is not the sole preserve of the woman. It is therefore important that you as a couple is tested in tandem. It is no point in solely testing you without seemingly doing any semen analyses to see if there are any male factor issues.

I would be asking the GP about the possibility of you as a couple now being referred to a gynae. It may be worth reading the NICE guidelines as well now re fertility treatment as you already have a child.

Hi Maz Vit B6 is good for extending luteal phase, also agnus castus can help regulate af.

Thanks so much Attila. Sorry I should've made it clearer. Hubby has been tested and he is absolutely fine.
I will speak to my doctor about getting referred, mainly because I am 35 and feel that time isn't on my side. I've spoken to two private Gyno's abroad and none of them took me seriously. It seems like a short luteal phase isn't a real issue and just told me to relax. Grrrrrrrrrr.... I've tried everything to help myself.... Preseed, bum under the pillow, softcups etc. I just feel something is not quite right.....

Thanks for your help...

Thanks Darkside. Can I just ask, can I take the B6 throughout my whole cycle because I've read somewhere that you should stop before ovulation to avoid damaging the embryo...?

Xxx

B6 is ok throughout, it's the AC you need to top around ovulation, do you track ovulation ?

Darksideofthe80s · 24/01/2013 10:29

*stop not top Blush

Would not use AC at all particularly if tests confirm that you are ovulating.

How many analyses (note plural) have they done to date?. One only for instance is not conclusive of there not being any male factor problems; such tests should always be repeated.

Short luteal phase if it is present can be seen as a problem by some gynaes but not others. There is a great deal of debate over whether LPD is an issue at all.

Telling you to relax after a year is a waste of time; something is causing the subfertility you as a couple are experiencing.

Would say that any test result over 6 months old should be discounted.

I would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae for further evaluation asap.
You need a diagnosis first and foremost.

Thanks Darkside. That makes sense. I do track ovulation and I am always getting positives and paeaks on OPKs and CBFM (although this is not definite proof I ovulate, I can only assume I do from the 'normal' results of my tests.

Attila, if I'm completely honest with you, apart from Prog and something called Gon (which I think is Gonorrhoea - could be completely wrong though) I have no idea what she tested me for. She didn't even tell me. Just sent me on my way to check for hormones. It's so frustrating. I will ask herto refer me for sure. Have you any rough idea how long it might take?

Thanks again xxx

Oh Maz I just snorted tea everywhere gon is not for gonnorhea! It is gonadotropin releasing hormone or lutenizing hormone so they are looking at the right things Grin

DeMaz · 24/01/2013 11:09
